I don't really care what day of the week it is or how close to the weekend it is, everyday at work is horrible.

I've never really understood the TGIF thing. Yeah it's Friday, but you're still at work. Saturdays, Saturdays are where it's at.

I dunno, I think Friday is the best day of the week.

Probably helps that I only do half days on a Friday, but still.

That's the day I'd usually be going out (if I was going out at all that weekend), and you're safe in the knowledge that you can sleep in the next day and not have to get up for anything, and it's not Sunday when you wake up.

I'd say Fridays are my favourite.

My first couple of years of retirement were unstructured, so I never noticed what day it was - Monday was no different to Saturday. Now we do the childcare Monday to Thursday, it feels more like a working week. But Thursday is our last day, so it feels like Friday used to. And we have a three day weekend.

This is turning into the Boring Thread.

My week is linear, with no end... It just keeps rolling past.

But my year is circular, clock fashion. Ever since I was a kid. But it runs anti-clockwise and slightly off-keel.

December 31st is Midnight, of course.

Which makes January 1st 11.00 o'clock; February 1st is 10.00 o'clock; March 1st is 9.00 o'clock, and so on, but June and July seem to occupy the same space to allow December 1st to be 1.00 o'clock, so that last hour as all December...

Currently we are around 4.00 o'clock...

This way madness lies.

Do people visualise the days of the week as I do?

In my head, the days of the week are a circle. Almost like a clock. But Mon-Thurs are on the right and Sat-Sun on the left, with Friday kind of at 6 o'clock, partially in the week and partially in the weekend.

I even visualise time as part of that week clock.

So now on a Sunday night we're more or less at 12 oclock.
Friday when I finish work is 6 oclock. And midday on wednesday is 3 oclcock.

It doesn't take any effort to do this, it's automatic. At 2pm on Thursday my mind will automatically place me on that week clock. And it's not just whole days. I visualise pm on a Saturday as being 3 quarters of the way through Saturday on my big week clock.

Is this mental?

The only reason I can think for visualising this way is that I think when I was very yougn I had a jigsaw that arranged the days of the week like that. I've never been able to find it on Google though.

Nope. I just think of it as linear.

I think of it linear too, but I wouldn't say you're mental :)  Just keep an eye on it

Monday I don't mind. Catch up with work pals, have a bit of chat about the weekend. Tuesday is the worst, unless the Villa are playing, then I've got that to distract me. Wednesday is halfway, so I start to feel OK. Thursday is cool, cus I know it's Friday tomorrow. Friday is fantastic, as I can smell the weekend. Only another 20 to 30 of years of this shit!

There's a Cure song in there somewhere, Dave.

They took that away from us at JLR.

Then I moved to Aerospace and got it back :)

8-12 on a Friday is so easy.

What if all the before/after weight loss photos are really the other way around and people are just showing the results of what happens when you sit on your arse eating biscuits all day.

I was just tucking into a biscuit while reading that. A weight watchers one, but still.

Fridays for me can often be the busiest day of the week. People have a tendency to want to complete on financial transactions at the end of a week.

Can ruin the Friday feeling somewhat.

I'm generally on e-mail guard duty on Fridays.

We're on a ridiculously tight programme at the moment with multiple building works that should be taking 14 or 16 weeks each, needing to be done in 10 or 12 with no margin to slip. So everyone is watching the official programme to make sure they aren't the guys that missed a deadline that crashed a job.

Friday's often involve receiving an e-mail at 4:57pm that says something like 'you needed this information on programme week 3 - and here it is'.

Yeah like **** does 5:00pm on Friday count as 'this week'. I reject them and tell everyone they'll be logged as arriving Monday morning, week 4...

That's how hard I am.

To be fair it's usually busy for me too.

I tend to give myself stuff to do on a Friday on the assumption that I'll have the same time to do it as a normal day, and then obviously I don't :D

Throw a couple of meetings in there and suddenly Iv'e got 2 hours to do stuff!

I say I finish at 12, but I'm very rarely out of there before 1 (which I realise is still awesome)
