Why I always double check the doors are locked. Kinda OCDish.

On the same note, i do this with locking my car. Regularly i will lock it, walk 15 seconds down the road, think "shit...have i locked my car?", walk back to the car, unlock then lock the car again!

Even when I remember that I have locked the doors (car doors or house doors) I have to go back and check. Very odd.

There have been times when I've been in bed and my thought process has been along the lines of

"Did I lock the back door?...Yes, I definitely remember doing that.....BOLLOCKS!" and I have to go check, even though I know I've locked it.

Thank God for that. I thought it was just me!

my brother will walk around and check all 4 doors even as he walks away from his car ..me i click the button with my car key in my pocket as I'm walking away , you can hear it beep when it's locked so if I hear a beep it's good enough for me.

You misunderstand. I have this car locking thing, too - and it's not about hearing the beep; it's about actually registering that you heard the beep. This time. That you're not just imagining you heard the beep because you heard it yesterday, and a million times before.

Same with locking the doors and windows - one of the things my wife and I cannot agree on. She leaves them open (or "on the latch") by default, I leave them locked by default. This annoys her when she has to nip out to the bin, say.

My argument is all about instilling habit - if we lock up every time, it is much less likely that we will forget to lock up when we really need to (i.e. when leaving the house empty). She says she always remembers, but does she hell. I know I've come home from work more than once and found doors (sometimes back AND front) on the latch, and the house deserted.

The risk of opportunist burglary is probably still low, but it's there - and the risk of losing my stuff due to a desire for "convenience" pisses me off.

Well Nigeria is pronounced "Nigh-djeer-reea" whereas Niger is pronounced "Nee-djair" is it not? Would it be pronounced the same spoken?

When did people start pronouncing Niger a Ni-zhair as a matter of interest? I'm sure it was always just Nigh-jer when I was growing up, as in a shortened form of Nigeria.

Why Asian girls always look like they're about to burst into tears when you see them in porno's?

If you knew 47 Asian men were about to commit Bukkake on your face wouldn't you

Either that or they are generally worried about being torn asunder by the 15" weapon thats about to skewer them.........

Why is Rupert a brown bear on the covers of the annuals, but a white (presumably polar) bear in the stories inside?

I used to love Rupert when I was kid and collected the annuals. In 1973 they printed a white faced Rupert on the cover, legend has it a brown faced version also exists that is extremely collectable! VT'ers check your old books :)
