Interested how well they do rest of the season.

I imagine with Ancelotti in Everton fans are expecting second half of the season charge at top 6.

They still have loads of tough away games to play, got to go to Man. City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, West Ham still (pretty sure their away record in London is hopeless).

They won't go down but not sure they'll rocket up the league either.

Good Cup manager, but never really had it in terms of league consistency. Big name but nothing more.

Has won the league at big clubs but was just 1 league. That Milan team massively underachieved. Deportivo and Liverpool were among two of the biggest bottle jobs in football history.

4 league titles in 17 years with Juve/Milan/Chelsea/PSG/Madrid is a pretty colossal failure. This is a man who took over money bags PSG, sitting top of the league, and managed to finished 2nd. You couldn't do it if you tried.

That Milan side from that era is my favourite 11 of all time. So many living legends all in one place.

Ancelotti tends to be a manager who takes over big clubs and keeps them ticking over.

To the best of my knowledge he's never gone anywhere and rebuilt an 11 over 2/3 years. At Chelsea he just countined playing Cech, Terry, Lampard, Drogba etc as obviously they were still great players. Same at Madrid.

Also same at Napoli who have needed a refresh to their squad but when you see the names (Allan, Mertens, Zielinski, Koulibaly) it's still the same as three seasons ago.

There's some good players at Everton like Digne and Richarlison but they obviously need better quality in many areas if they're to finish in top 6 anytime soon. Guess like Spurs they'll be more than happy just to win a cup. Everton have gone even longer without winning a trophy than we have.

You really wouldn’t call This said “a team”. It’s literally just a squad of “named players” who have been randomly picked to play together. It’s like they’ve gone, “right who has been “decent” the last few years, we’ll pay big bucks for them”.... no cohesion at all.

Everton have announced record losses of £111.8m for the year to June 2019 but say they are "committed to operating in a financially sustainable manner".

The losses have been adjusted for a 13-month period to incorporate when players' contracts come to an end.

But after a £30.6m profit in 2017 and a £13.1m loss in 2018, the latest figures show the alarming rate of spending under majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

Premier League profit and sustainability rules allow for a £105m loss over three years, with Everton's total loss in the same timeframe at £94.3m.

That does not include spending on Goodison Park and the club's academy, which reduces that loss.

But spending on players has taken wages to £160m, with Everton's wage-to-revenue ratio increasing from 77% in 2018 to 85% for last season.

Moshiri has spent about £450m on players and changed manager four times since he took over at the club in February 2016, leading to questions from fans about the club's sustainability.

The club's plight has not been helped by a poor start to this season, which led to the sacking of Marco Silva and his replacement by former AC Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Everton sit 11th in the Premier League, 11 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

But the club said their net debt had been reduced from £65.7m to £9.2m over the past year because of a 40% growth in commercial revenue and loans from Iranian Moshiri.

The club also recorded their second-highest turnover of £187.7m, despite not competing in Europe.

Everton chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale said: "We have been aware of and planned for the impact the investment would have on our short-term profitability and this is part of a long-term sustainable business plan that demonstrates our commitment to operating in a financially sustainable manner."

Barrett-Baxendale also revealed that Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov has paid £30m to secure an option on the naming rights of the club's new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Usmanov's company USM Holdings already sponsors Everton's training ground at Finch Farm.

Everton are awaiting planning permission for the £500m stadium, which they hope will be granted this summer. They hope the stadium will be completed by 2023.

Together with further investment in the squad and increased revenues, the club believe they can challenge for the top four in the Premier League and for European honours.

"We are working tirelessly to be a club which fits with the very best in world football," added Barrett-Baxendale.

Jesus that’s a huge loss, did we report figures so bad under Lerner? It’s only going to get worse next season with the scaling of Silva and hiring (in the top 3 highest paid managers in Europe) Ancellotti. It doesn’t look like they’ll go down this year, but if they did they’d be screwed, “named” players on high wages, the majority of whom I couldn’t see anyone wanting for that wage

Its a big loss but funnily enough we are in our strongest position ever financially and are near enough debt free. Its hard to understand without understanding that our real owner is widely known to be Alisher Usmanov who is one of the richest blokes in the world. Farhad Moshiri our owner (whos own wealth was a gift from Usmanov) is widely accepted to be the front man as Usmanov via his holding company USM overtime pumps in money via sponserships to avoid FFP as Usmanov couldn't invest his own money if he bought into us officially.

An example was he sponsered our training ground for £6 million per year in 2017 which has doubled to £12 million this year, along with Megafon who sponser us & has tonight paid £30 million for just first refusal on naming rights with a further naming rights deal for an unknown amount in the pipeline (which is very suspect when much more attractive clubs like Spurs are struggling to get naming rights sponsers).

Add the new stadium and alot of our highest earners out of contract in the next 12-18 months the club has the opportunity to grow in the next couple of seasons.

Recruitment has to improve mind however Ancelotti hopefully will be a key attraction.

Usmanov buying the naming rights for £30m for a stadium that's not even got planning permission and is expected to be done in 2023 seem perfectly normal right?

I mean he looks like a trustworthy guy.

Alisher Usmanov has paid £30million for the naming rights to Everton's planned stadium
