With masks on waving Union Jacks while Boris and Dom ride a 300 mile long zip line overhead sprinkling red white and blue confetti from their arses.

Read a report today that due to reduced birthrates it will all be over anyway.

Not enough,  Japan,  Spain and China will suffer approx 50% reduction in population in the next few hundred years at this rate.

India and Nigeria will be the population centres.

Population needs to drop. AI/robots will automate jobs so will need less people. Pay people UBI as well.

Was reading something earlier on the beeb and one of the UN head honcho’s was saying the world is now just one bad decision away from total utter nuclear annihilation. A few years ago you’d not exactly laugh it off but still think ‘nahhhh the worlds always been a knife edge but it’s not seriously going to happen’.

Right now though? Got to be honest, it’s more likely going to happen than ever isn’t it?

Sobering. Good times. 😐

Edit: here it is.

The world is one misstep from devastating nuclear war and in peril not seen since the Cold War, the UN Secretary General has warned.

"We have been extraordinarily lucky so far," Antonio Guterres said.

Amid rising global tensions, "humanity is just one misunderstanding, one miscalculation away from nuclear annihilation", he added.

His remarks came at the opening of a conference for countries signed up to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Secretary General Guterres said the "luck" the world had enjoyed so far in avoiding a nuclear catastrophe may not last - and urged the world to renew a push towards eliminating all such weapons.

"Luck is not a strategy. Nor is it a shield from geopolitical tensions boiling over into nuclear conflict," he said.

And he warned that those international tensions were "recaching new highs" - pointing specifically to the invasion of Ukraine, tensions on the Korean peninsula and in the Middle East as examples.

It feels weird getting excited for the new season of football as the world collapses around us.

It's like listening to the musicians on board the Titanic as it sinks.

California has declared a state of emergency for Monkeypox.

It's getting pretty serious.

You can contract it by touch and through the air.

Be careful out there and mask up!

I think you've been misinformed about it being contracted through air.

It has to be body or respiratory secretions or you can catch it through bedding and clothing. Not just by breathing in the air though.

From the CDC.

Monkeypox spreads in a few ways.

  • Monkeypox can spread to anyone through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact, including:
    • Direct contact with monkeypox rash, scabs, or body fluids from a person with monkeypox.
    • Touching objects, fabrics (clothing, bedding, or towels), and surfaces that have been used by someone with monkeypox.
    • Contact with respiratory secretions.
  • This direct contact can happen during intimate contact, including:
    • Oral, anal, and vaginal sex or touching the genitals (penis, testicles, labia, and vagina) or anus (butthole) of a person with monkeypox.
    • Hugging, massage, and kissing.
    • Prolonged face-to-face contact.
    • Touching fabrics and objects during sex that were used by a person with monkeypox and that have not been disinfected, such as bedding, towels, fetish gear, and sex toys.
  • A pregnant person can spread the virus to their fetus through the placenta.

It’s also possible for people to get monkeypox from infected animals, either by being scratched or bitten by the animal or by preparing or eating meat or using products from an infected anima
