The Film Thread

it looks very similar to the 1st avengers trailer which iirc was mainly the scene of them all fighting in the woods, it definitely looks like it will sow the seeds for civil war, hulk buster was always going to happen after IM3

will be interesting how they use scarlet witch and quicksilver, also interesting to see how they use andy serkis, i knew he was a visual effects consultant on it and was getting a small role but im not sure how small it will be now

Seen some trailer breakdowns, loads of guessing, serkis is almost certainly the most interesting bit of the trailer

For some reason I can't get the spoilers thing to work, but he hints at a whole new marvel film and probably ties in to new characters for civil war

Unforgiven (1992)  I thought i had seen all the films Clint Eastwood has appeared in,so i was surprised to come across this film.In my opinion, this is a really good film which i really enjoyed watching. Would rate it a 8/10

Yes great film. Gene Hackman was a bit brutal in it...

Fury tonight

Had a few lulls in it but the battle scenes were pretty gory and often caught you unawares

a decent film , a touching scene around the piano threatened to steal the show but gore won on away goals

I've just discovered the Every Frame a Painting channel on Youtube. It's really great if you like analysis of films from a technical level.

Designer1 should especially check out his Bayhem video, considering he's such a fan of Michael Bay.

QofS was rubbish IMO, action scene followed by action scene with a chase scene thrown in every now and then to break it up, my biggest problem with it was they actually laid down some pretty interesting story arcs but then didnt develop them at all, QofS as a group could have played out like SPECTRE but they didnt even try, was a shame

few people are right on here IMO bond is meant to be a little bit silly with a cartoonish villain, with some decent gadgets a great car great women and great one liners, casino royale is a very good film and was a perfect reboot, but that's then done, ease him back in to where he should be without tipping the balance back to the brosnan films, as it is now they are too focused on the edgy gritty bond, skyfall was also a very good film but that was too focused on shoe horning in nostalgia (although i do think it captured another essence of bond in the locations, the macau, japan island and scotland stuff is all beautifully shot)

bring back the volcano lair...

Quantum of Solace really suffers from terrible cinematography and editing. Close fast cut after close fast cut that is overload to the brain and thus you simply cannot see what the hell is going on, and the utter shite pacing.

One for the horror movie fans. It's getting some incredible reviews at the moment and if what i've read is to be believed, it's one of the best contemporary horrors for a long time.

Supposedly eschews the usual 'silence...silence ***BANG***!' scares of most modern horrors in favour of an effective story and well built tension.

As a horror fanatic, i'm looking forward to it :thumb:

I would like to second these sentiments. Looks proper. I watched the trailer with trepidation, hoping for not too many spoilers. There is an unnecessary reveal, but it does a great job of selling the film.

Cinema then home to sleep with the lights on I reckon. Can't wait.

Looks great.

I've said before that horror is a funny one with me.

Generally I don't like it, because I think horror is so so easy to do badly, and so 95% of horror films put there are crap.

But when its done right, it's fantastic.

Going to see this tonight. Genuinely excited.

Just watched Life is Beautiful for the first time in a long while. Still funny and sad, uplifting and heart wrenching, and above all a wonderful piece of cinema.

I don't mind admitting I cried like I've never cried before watching that film.  A very difficult film to watch, but in a good way, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, the first part of it is all about him wooing his future wife, and is really funny and sweet. Then the second part, even though they try to keep the humour going, set against the back drop of the holocaust, you feel really conflicted. Great ending too, although perhaps the saddest part of the film.
