MWARLEY2
They will score. So will we. They will throw balls into the box . Emi will claim send the ball forward quickly and we will score a few. They have to go for it. A game set up for our strengths and theirs .
Nigel Posted February 27 VT Supporter Share Posted February 27 Elijah Adebayo has a ridiculous stat that he has the best goal conversion rate in Europe...which makes more sense when you take his average goal is scored from 4 yards. He must just sit in the 6 yard box!
Stevo985 Posted February 27 VT Supporter Share Posted February 27 Win this and it takes the pressure off for Spurs. Spurs will still be a huge game if we want 4th place, but the pressure will be on them to play catch up. Man Utd are no longer a factor

DJBOB
While their set piece prowess is scary, they are 18th for a reason and this is a match we should surely be winning with the injuries they have at key parts of the team.
BOF Posted February 27 Moderator Share Posted February 27 Match officials for GW27 Referee: Michael Oliver. Assistants: Stuart Burt, Dan Cook. Fourth official: Matthew Donohue. VAR: Peter Bankes. Assistant VAR: Mark Scholes. Quite surprised that this will be Oliver's first Villa league game of the season. 1

Ceemo
Luton are very open to through balls with no protection in midfield. Lokonga is massive for them. Went off injured at half-time at Anfield, and they just weren't the same after. With no Nakamba either, they don't have a defensive midfielder in the team.

We have to be beating these. I was concerned about the previous 2 games but we will surely hsve far too much ability for Luton

Think this will be close and high scoring. They played within themselves at VP but think they will press us a lot more this time. Also, Doughty is very good at delivering from set pieces and we are awful at defending them. Villa to win 3-2 is my prediction.
est1874
What we need is to beat these and be less nervy going into Spurs so we can try to get a result there. But knowing us we'll lose to Luton, everyone will freak out, and then we'll go and smash Spurs.
DakotaVilla
This match will really test our intelligence. Luton will try to intimidate, be overly physical and to create an atmosphere that turns this into a basketball game. We will need to show huge amounts of desire but most of all patience and intelligence to slow the game down and to play to our strengths. This will not be straightforward as they are fighting for their lives. If we can sort out the defensive set pieces, we should have enough going forward. Nigel Posted February 28 VT Supporter Share Posted February 28 Luton are everything we hate. Physical, play defensive football and just love getting the ball in the mixer. Easy this won't be!

True but they also conceded three at home against Sheffield united and have conceded 10 in the last two games. I agree it should be high scoring but not as close as you think. OutByEaster? Posted February 28 Moderator Share Posted February 28 I'm going with a 5-3 win for us. A banged up defence against the type of attack that can hurt us and a sharp attacking unit against the type of defence that hates playing against the sort of movement we have makes for games with goals. Villan_of_oz Posted February 28 VT Supporter Share Posted February 28 The only result I can't deal with is one where Ross Barkley scores a 95th minute winner against.... I have slagged him off for many a year and tbh he totally deserved it.. However he has been unbelievable good this season!

This is where 2 styles challenge each other.....this is where lower league teams win in cup games over their better opponents. " If we don't compete......We get beat" This is where " work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard enough".....this will be epitomised in this game.....We have to be quickest to the ball, and not second. This will be the defining factor of 4th playing 18th......They are 18th for a reason, as you say, and while they have moments of talent, it's not consistent enough to be higher in the league. Their talent won't beat us on Saturday, no chance......but their workrate, desire and application might.....if we are not "prepared" If we apply ourselves, like we can, we will secure the 3 points.....complacency is our biggest threat, here. Ps High balls in to our box, will be their best chance. Edited February 28 by TRO
