Match Thread: LC3: Villa v Everton

our 1st 11 are technically good enough to play the way Unai wants, our subs by and large are not.

When he makes so many changes, he needs to change the tactics because these players can;t play the way he wants.

This is all on EMery setting up the team in a way the players can;t play.

Everyone out of sorts, losing every 50/50, again midfield not quite working for either assisting defence or linking attack. Last three minutes was an improvement.

It can only get better, can’t it?

By all rationales, yes, it should only be possible to get better.

Utter wank.

I know we have to make changes, but the fact is we are a lot weaker when we do.

We just don't have enough good players, at the moment, simple as that.

Problem is, that could mean we end up not doing particularly well in anything. Last year was all about unity, a small number of players and a single focus.

This year, we have lost several key first teamers and a fair few (probably most), of the back up players clearly aren't adequate replacements.

Sure, we might still turn this game around, but there's plenty to worry about. We are being outplayed by Everton on our own ground.

Can only play better in the second half, really poor first half performance.

Tielemans looks miles off it so far, as does Donk and many others.

Mings, Buendia, Ramsay and Moreno are huge losses to how we played last season. Will take some time to get back to those levels in performance, but the positive is we have been picking up points.

Villa 2-1 in this one. Have to be better in the second half.

Looks like Unai got it tactically wrong again like he admitted himself against Legia.

He tried to rectify it this time round by dropping Chambers and Lenglet but then goes and starts Dendoncker and Olsen instead.

Poor guy can't catch a break.

It's actually more impressive than that.  We're outplaying ourselves.

Well it's safe to say both teilemens and donker will be coming off.

Kamara and digne on and push mginn in the place where teilemens should be playing.

That was an embarrassment,  both players just walking around doing nothing or standing around doing nothing.

Cash hasn't looked forwards more than once that half, and that was meant to be the attacking side with zero players on the left.

Duran not dropping and showing anywhere but straight down the middle.

So bad , really, so terribly bad.

And olsen thinking he has the ability of emi ? Move the bloody ball quicker, you're setting this boring slow temp and causing half the panic at the back.

It's salvageable as long as the subs are made at half time. Then after 60 if duran still is in the pocket of tarkovski swap for ollie.

Not to add to the Tielemans pile-on but he just looks so weirdly unathletic. Relative to the other players on the pitch, he looks an absolute mess.

Yeah, looks like he retired 5 years ago, put on a bit of timber and is now playing in a charity match.

I'm coming around to this tbh, we persisted with the first team learning his way of playing, but you need to be pragmatic with some of the shit who are just backups in the squad never likely to chain  couple of performances together. How many cup embarrassments do we need to suffer
