We play our fifth game of the season tonight and the season started just eighteen days ago. We need Lenglet or someone just like him.

Just in case you were planning to go to the game a day early. Its tomorrow not tonight.

He is a loan.

If they were serious about this guy they would have bought him in the summer.

He is clearly a backup signing.

That’s what we need. we have a CB out for the season, not for an eternity. High quality short term cover. Superb

I never had a proper look into his performances, didn’t know he actually played in Barca (and usually that’s something alarming rather than positive), but the whole deal is shrewd piece of business. As a backup we won’t find much better, no time to negotiate for younger with potential, so a loan for a ball play cb (from what I hear) is the best right now. Especially as a temporary replacement for Mings. We can address a younger one later on, which can be viewed as a longer term.

Only concern is that a backup player on £150k per week (75% of £200k) if it’s true the reports of his wages.

Disappointing signing but every signing can't be a W

Getting him as a backup is definitely a W, especially when you consider they we’re not paying fees. This guy, Tielemans and Zaniolo, both cost less than 5m, which we’ll get from Philogene himself only. Easy to sell, for Zaniolo if he success then we can buy him.
I’m more than happy with that approach, more than happy with us not having a ridiculous net spend while progressing. The market is being tough, will only get tougher with the targets we want. We have to keep healthy ffp while improving.

It’s around 7-8m a year, just pretend 3-4 is a fee.
We can’t get a short term deals better than this. Well, we could but would require a huge work and Monchi just came.

Perfectly suits the way we're looking to play - Emery wants us to control the game, our build up play in defence is crucial to that.

Pau and Lenglet don't need to be physical defenders as the goal is for us to be on the front foot and spend less time defending near our own box.

We don't need a James Tarkowski / Richard Dunne as ideally there will be no need for any last ditch defending with us camped in the opposition's half similar to City and Brighton.

Lenglet is a very good footballer at centre half.

Without knowing either way I would happily guess that neither the £200k or the 75% are correct

Also not sure what happens with mings wages and insurance etc etc
