Popular Post M_Afro
This is a key moment for our football club. I have supported Villa for nearly 40 years. Emery is easily the best qualified manager that we have hired during that time. He is absolutely levels above any manager that we have had for decades. He also appears to be a really good guy. It really has to be now for us. If this guy can’t get us going, then it is completely broken. Hopefully the fans will recognise this and get right behind him. I actually think that our supporters could be the biggest barrier to success. He will be backed by the board and he will evolve the squad appropriately but if the supporters aren’t patient, there’s a chance that things won’t work out. For what it’s worth, I really get a feeling that this is going to be a success. It will take time and this season in particular is going to continue to be frustrating. We may have to wait a while for his first win but we have to remain focused on the bigger picture. This guy improves football teams. This guy wins trophies. This guy knows more than any one of us fans. Let’s get behind him and play our part.

Guest av1
Unai Emery is the manager of Aston Villa. I just can’t process it, and I feel like I’m going to wake up tomorrow and this is just a mad dream.

Mate, I've got to ask - what are you basing this lack of patience on? People keep bringing it up. SG? Deano? Tony Xia? And the bit in bold - do you actually believe that or are you using hyperbole for effect? I'm fine with the latter, otherwise that's going to need a bit more detail.

This guy knows more than any one of us fans. Two fairly common themes are on VT. The first is that almost without exception the appointment of Emeri has been praised and welcomed, so if that’s any guide a degree of patience is more likely than not. The second one is not as widespread, but it’s posters saying that we, the supporters are a hindrance. I don’t agree. I don’t think Villa fans are any different to, say, Liverpool fans. When Hodgson was there, they were grumbling and jeering and quiet. Klopp went there, with his passion and reputation and remarked that he needed the crowd to be better and louder, he turned them round, because he knows what he’s doing and the fans responded. Recently, say Leeds game, Anfield was again very quiet, with groans and so on. A run of bad results and the fans are subdued. Unai Emeri will get supported, and if he’s as good as people say he is, results and performances will improve and the fans will be like we were under Deano. The fans are not a problem, but an asset to be used to help the team. And that’s the same anywhere. 10

Patatas Bravas were indeed excellent. Only problem is we weren't sure what the portion sizes were like.... I now feel like The Michelin Man.
