Players very much going through the motions and knowing it was the end of Gerrard's reign.  Not really a fair comparison.

If you look at the training video when Gerrard came in you'll see a lot more of it like Emery's. Lots of energy, smiley faces, and a sense of respect for Gerrard the player.

That said, the excitement and optimism was unfounded and there was no substance behind his coaching. No plan, no style, no experience. The respect dissipated when they realised Gerrard the player isn't Gerrard the coach.

At least with Emery we know there is substance behind his methods,  and a wealth of experience. Not to mention a lot of titles won as a coach that brings a different level if respect. And yes, he was EVEN more involved than I've seen any villa coach for a long time.

Exciting times indeed.

Agreed on the context between the two sessions, the point was more of a case of "look where we were just over a week agon and look now..."

I was going to say the same. I remember gerrards 1st training session he was heavily involved doing what emery was playing with the players so i agree that video isnt a fair reflection

Only difference is emergy jas the cv to back it up. Gerrard didnt

Training videos all the same to me. It’s just a bit of PR really to give fans something to watch for a couple of minutes of our boring lives in between games.

Mate, the VillaTalk specialists have deconstructed the video in depth to showcase a 78% performance upgrade compared to Gerrard's training.

He even told Ramsey where to press.

Gerrard was all about raising the clubs exposure and profile which is why so many interviews and photos etc. It failed miserably. This time it’s all about getting in a man that is an expert on coaching and let him do what he does best.  Get the results and performances on the field right and the publicity will take care of itself.

I read on Twitter that Emery has signed 19 players twice. E.g. Lo Celso.

I suspect that means he trusts certain Individuals and likes to works with players he knows can take his ideas on board.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we were linked to some Villarreal players, especially Lo Celso (I understand he’s on loan)

It'll be interesting to see for sure if he does go back for anyone. One thing on this note I found interesting is that Graham Hunter said on the For The Love... podcast that Emery was absolutely besotted by Juan Foyth in particular at Villarreal due to his tactical flexibility, which isn't a name you would have immediately anticipated would have been up there.

Step one bring in Foyth and send Bednarek back - simples.

Been out with a knee injury (almost) the whole season but apparently he's in contention to play this week or at least be on the bench.
