I don't know. I take the point that the management isn't great right now, but no matter who is in charge our midfield always gets danced through. It's galling and makes no sense but was same under Bruce, Smith, and still the same with Gerrard.

Terrible ball retention, no width, forwards don't hold the ball up. This sort of stuff isn't just going to click when games become competitive. 

I would add too much ball watching when defending against crosses too.

Good thing we bought a Champions League quality DM...  You'd never notice it, though.
