Kellyman is just another player, who we poached from Derby as they went into financial difficulties.

Just don't mention the Olbion, lost count now of how many we have taken over the past few seasons!

I think kellyman is the reason we let ramsey out; We can only really hope to blood one youngster in any one position and kellyman looks like he has something a bit special.

Agreed, sometimes one or two just catch your eye, and even if they are not quite " there " yet, you can see the potential is massive.

Some of the kids who don't make it in our team, may eventually go on to be good players, who have decent careers, but that doesn't mean they would necessarily make it here, or be what we need.

These deals are as much about looking out for the players, as well as ourselves.

I really like the look of Kellyman as well as Iroegbunam.

They also have the stature.

The academy costs millions to run every single year. If you follow youth football or even play FM you'll know there is a cold hard cash aspect to academy football.

We want to bring through many young lads, give them a good grounding and a foundation to continue playing professional football for their whole career.

Most the time that won't happen, sometimes they will make the lower leagues, we've been lucky to have so many in the last decade or so leave our ranks and make a good career in the top 4 divisions.

Then there's the special few that get into the team. But we still need to balance the books and provide a path.

If you're a lad in the academy now who's 14, you can look at Grealish as the absolute pinnacle of what is acheivable. But rather than pointing at players loaned out and doing well, you can now say look, you could be like Jacob and find a path here, or you could be like Aaron or Cameron and still play the Prem for another side, or you can move into the Championship and prove yourself like Jaden.

And even if you get released, you could end up like Ruben and just head down the road to West Brom and prove yourself there.

As long as we're assessing the best options for these players, whilst still producing massive profits from the academy players, it shows the academy is not only sustainable but a bit source of income and that can only improve.

The more links we get to foreign clubs as well, the more talent we can bring over to really help push on and also for registration reasons, help qualify as home-grown / make moves into Europe smoother. Take the Egyptian lad we got in a few weeks back.

I really hope Kellyman makes it but if not I'll look out for him and how his career goes every season regardless. It's fascinating seeing the web of players that we've had on our books and how it spreads right across English, Scottish and Irish football.

Great post 👏👏

I don't think we let Ramsey go because we think Kellyman is a better player, there's a three years difference between them or close to it, and they play different positions, there's room for both of them to have a future at the club if they prove to be good enough, and both on an advanced track relative to their age.

But taking this season in isolation, was probably easier to let some of the older academy players go, knowing some of the younger players can do a job, we're lucky to be in that position, Kadan Young, Kellyman, and Patterson probably all capable.

Totally agree with you, some really talented players in our academy at the moment.

Agreed.

Unai has clearly decided Ramsey (A) will get limited minutes this season, and it's in everyone's best interest to let him go, play and develop.
He's clearly well thought of - hence the buy back - so the risk is low, and we've got £14m if he doesn't actually make it to the level we'll be at.

Fans seem to forget that these young players need a career - not just a few minutes in the cup. If we actually take care of these young players, we are more likely to attract the next generation, as the parents will recognise that we are supportive of their careers overall.

He looks exactly what he js.An extremely talented 17 year old that needs to develop strength. But that will come. Easily done. Not easy is that skill and touch he has. He seemed nervous at the start as he should do but getting more into the game as it goes on.

The assist was nice.

The Key Pass to Bailey on 72mins that should've ended in a goal from McGinn - was beautiful. Split second with 2 Defenders closing him down, no time to look and slots it perfectly through to Leon. Really lovely pass.

Excited to see more of him
