We are being punished for following what other clubs did - not that it’s not right per se but the horse bolted long ago. It’s demonstrably unfair. I don't think Mitoma was loaned for work permit reasons, it was just a developmental step.
Rds1983 Posted July 8, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted July 8, 2023 I can wrap my head around not letting us transfer players whilst in the same competition, although I'd challenge consistency on the teams like the Red Bull ones. What I don't understand is why we can't share scouting information? I'm guessing they think it might help with knowing more on opponents but feel that's a stretch. QldVilla Posted July 8, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted July 8, 2023 UEFA just make it up as they go along. Why not just have a blanket rule across the whole of Europe with regards to ownership, rather than just European competitions? Pity they can't so the same fortitude when it comes to Manure City and others...
Demitri_C
I dont mind them doing this however regardless if thw twams are in same European competition the same rulwa should apply about multi club ownership. Uefa are just a **** inconsistent laughing stock If this was newcastle or chelsea they would do absolutely nothing

Given we're banned from trading players with them while we are in the same competition as them, maybe we're exploiting a path via Saudi Arabia to sign them further down the line ... would hate it if we were. useless
We might have a stake in them, but we're no more guaranteed the pick of their best players than we're guranteed to keep the players we've already got, in other words if Vitoria players want to go elsewhere, or if our players want to leave us nothing we can do about it. A few of the Zed FC players including Omar Khedr currently training with Vitoria. I'm not sure if Khedr, is joining them initially before coming to us next summer, or joining us this summer and then being loaned to Vitoria for next season, or joining us and staying with us, there seem to be conflicting reports. I don't think that we are allowed to loan players to Vitoria this season because we are in the same European competition. If we are in different competitions next season then we are allowed to loan / sell players between the two clubs.

mikeyp102
I bet the owners are really pissed off they missed out in the club in America. I think with Messi going there the league is really going to kick in shortly.

I think with Messi going there the league is really going to kick in shortly. I disagree. MLS has a host of problems- which will forever keep them down and unable to compete financially with Europe. The league and 'owners' aren't interested in changing the way the league is set up and run atm. One of the big issues imo- MLS is a single entity league. MLS actually owns all the teams- teams are run by investor-operators who just pay a fee to gain access to the team. Its like they are leasing the team from MLS. All the teams have a hard salary cap which is very low- something like 10million per season. They have all kinds of confusing rules and even their own currency for making trades/transfers within MLS- this is done because MLS is in essence dealing with itself (since they own all the teams). Another problem- they restrict international roster slots- every team starts with only 4 per 25 man roster. You can trade these slots to increase it (something Miami did to gain all these foreign players). But MLS does this to restrict player access to the league and keep is primarily US based players. This model could work if US had the youth academy infrastructure of most European countries (UK, Germany, etc)- but they are not even close. So- despite the enormous population- the talent pool is poor- or undeveloped until a much later age. So the league quality suffers. Lastly- there is no football pyramid here- no promotion/relegation. With no threat of relegation, numerous MLS teams have no incentive to be competitive- especially given that MLS actually owns them. The owner-operators just do enough to keep them afloat and allow the team value to artificially grow as more teams are added to the league. Then if another owner-operator want to take over, they pay the buy in fee and 'purchase' the team (lease) from the current owner-operator. I'm witnessing it first hand with DC United, the ownership group are the same ones who also own Swansea. They are absolutely terrible owners who know nothing about football and do the bare minimum. Its a shame really. Edited July 30, 2023 by ejs1111 1
Popular Post wishywashy
All that fuss about UEFA rules because we were playing in the same European competition... Vitoria, the buggers, have only gone and gotten eliminated in the 2nd qualifying stage on penalties... by a club from some Slovenian town...
