To put into perspective how crazy Ollie’s season has been; he only needs 1 more goal to smash Benteke’s 19 PL goals record for us and 3 more assists to smash Young’s 14 PL assists tally in a season.

He’s got the same number of goal involvements as KDB’s best ever season. Salah has only ever had one better season. Son and Fernandes have never had a season that good.

He’s the player of the season.

Another one!

Pundits always forget to mention that his stats aren't padded with penalties.

- Haaland has 4 penalties in the prem (16 goals from open play)

- Cole Palmer has 9 penalties in the prem (11 goals from open play)

- Solanke has 2 penalties in the prem (16 goals from open play)

- Alexander Isak has 4 penalties (13 goals from open play)

- Salah has 5 penalties (12 goals from open play)

Watkins has 19 goals, 12 assist and ZERO goals from penalties in the 23/24 season.

POTS or it's scripted.

As long as you have someone else in your squad that can take a penalty (and clearly most teams do,  then there isn't a better striker in world football at the moment.

Mbappe, Haaland and Kane score for fun, but they're not bringing the level of all round brilliance that Watkins does. I genuinely 100% would not swap him for any of them.

Found this list to see if there was anyone else in world football I'd forgotten about, and Watkins didnt even make it 🤣. But two players I've never heard of and Darwin **** Nunez did. Hahahaha. Four Four Two's top 10 strikers in January 2024.

I get he had stepped up a level in the last few weeks, but even back in January he was setting the standard for non-penalty goal involvements.

Him and Emi two absolute irreplaceables in our squad right now.

Not many players you can call a complete forward but Ollie is without doubt. He may not yet be comparable to outright goal specialists such as Kane, Haaland etc who can score with certainty most of the time but I'd rather have our Ollie. He's got it all. If Southgate overlooks him this summer he should be sacked on the spot! I don't think he will however 🤔

I don't think anyone really thinks he'll outscore Haaland or Kane, they are just naturally better finishers and hit the ball "cleaner" than Ollie does, more regularly.

But when it comes to "all round play" and "who does more for your team" (other than score shit loads of goals, which is pretty handy), then you'd choose Ollie.

I don't think he'll ever be a 25+ season striker, but we don't need him to be.  15+ with 5-10 assists is more than good enough!

He has 26 goals in all competitions. Could make it to 30 with games remaining.

Should have said league goals, sorry.

Sorry I should have mentioned that you probably meant league. To be fair to Ollie though if he took penalties he would very close to 25+.

I know what you mean though. He offers so much more than just goals. 12 assists is class for a centre forward.

Yea absolutely, he's a wonderful player.

I think a part of me thinks that chance where he was 1 v 1 against his CB and he twisted and turned and couldn't get his shot off?  I think people like Kane and Haaland score that chance.  Tiny margins and he'll probably work on things like that to prove me wrong!  But right now, its just my opinion :)

This is just a mental opinion. He's having a fantastic season - but he's not better than Mbappe.

Haaland is also 5 years younger than him and clearly not recovered properly from his mid-season injury. He scored 36 in 35 games last season in his first PL season as a 22 year old.

The Kane slander (made by a few on here) is also really off. The only thing Ollie has over Kane is the ability to run in behind. Trying to paint the narrative that Kane is just a goal-scorer is bizarre, he's a fantastic passer of the ball. His first touch is a million times better than Watkins. He's scored a lot more (33 goals) and still assisted close (10) vs. Watkins this season, and is in the CL semi-finals. He's a phenomenal player.

We should've kept Danny Ings.

It's quite funny the amount of stick and calls for other players to start that Watkins has had to endure

(i know you're joking by the way)

Even this season there have been calls for Duran to get a run in the team

The main difference in my opinion is he is so bloody happy and relaxed these days. I always thought he was incredibly reserved and uptight. But these last few months have seen him change. Always celebrates, always joking. That " how have i not scored" to the camera after the game finished was of someone completely happy .

Kane only did what Ollie has done this season in the PL once before but not for the last three seasons. This season, his stats were always going to be off the charts in the Bundesliga playing for Bayern.

I'm not saying they are not exceptional footballer, and didn't say any of them were "just goalscorers". I said they're outstanding goalscorers, but Ollie brings more besides. I don't think we'd be better for having any of them over Ollie.
