Any reason all these boys are going to the Conference? Would think there are League 1 and 2 clubs that would want them.

probably implies a) their level, and b) that they wont make it at villa.

I wonder if it's a genuine trial or just that because he's on loan to Gloucester and they're not playing any football we're doing them a favour and giving him some game time.

Doesn't make any sense, why would we do them a favour to give game time to one of their players at the expense of one of our own players?

In return for any number of favours they could do for us.

#announcefoden ;)

It could be something we've done for the Gloucester academy as we were doing something else with them last week, could be a number of things, including just being a trial

City have 2 England under 19 keepers

Didn't someone say the Gloucester linkup came from Mark Harrison as it used to be a WBA initiative?

I'm hoping City have told us they wont activate the buyback fee for Luiz this summer and we've asked them to make that official! Wishful thinking really.

Dunno, just seems strange that they'd let him go; England youth international that they spent money and bent rules to get out of Liverpool a year ago, just doesn't seem like they'd be wanting to give him up.

It’s odd, doesn’t pass the sniff test. Can’t quite figure it out at the moment.

Interesting that Moulden was referred to on the teamsheet and referenced in the match report on the official site by his actual name rather than 'trialist'. Perhaps an indication that he will be signing up with us.

There is such a quiet efficiency about the club at academy level these days, too young players brought in ahead of rivals, top talents signing contracts players moving out on loan.

At times in the past it felt as it everything about the academy was an after thought and disjointed from the main part of the club.

Its going largely unnoticed in the football world but our club is being run very very differently to the past.

I really think we will see this reflected in the players over the next few years.

Seen someone on twitter say he's a 17 year old kid signing his 1st professional deal, money like he's never earned before, "made it" and he's turned up in a suit looking smart and professional

Makes a very good impression without knowing anything about the lad

Young and Kesler both playing for the U18s today. Looks like Shakpoke is still injured, but Abldeen-Goodridge returns to the bench.

That's a strange one for Kesler - from Captain of the U23's to being back in the U18's.
