East London Villa
The season ends with 16 defeats and 1 draw in the last 17 games for our U18s: https://www.avfc.co.uk/Matches/u18 I know we moved a lot of players up to the U21s, but that's still a bit surprising isn't it? Don't other teams do the same? Edited May 11 by East London Villa Added link
useless
They would have liked to have done better, but I don't think they will be concerned, the same thing happens every season, form takes a dip as they lose players to the U21s around Christmas time, our Under eighteens doing well, they're just not playing for the U18s, a number of them playing regularly for the U21s, three of them were on the bench in midweek for the first team, and that I'm aware of, eight U18s have trained with the first team squad this season, five of those first year scholars, so U17s. And there will still be some good prospects still playing for the U18s, Lynch and Hemmings, amongst others. Edited May 11 by useless

East London Villa Posted Wednesday at 08:20 Share Posted Wednesday at 08:20 I believe our Champions League qualification means we are also in the UEFA Youth League next season! It will be interesting to see how the extra games and experience against different types of opposition will impact our decision to send players on loan. I think the criteria will be players born after 1st January 2005 + up to 5 players over that age.

useless Posted Wednesday at 21:56 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:56 I imagine a lot of the recruitment for next season is already sorted behind the scenes, but playing in UEFA Youth League might allow us to attract a few more
East London Villa Posted Thursday at 09:42 Share Posted Thursday at 09:42 (edited) Just don't look up who won the UEFA Youth League last season Here are the rules for next season: https://documents.uefa.com/r/Regulations-of-the-UEFA-Youth-League-2024/25/Article-28-Player-eligibility-Online A few highlights: 35 of the 40 players in the overall squad have to be born on or after 1 January 2006. 5 of the 40 players in the overall squad can be born on or after 1 January 2005, but only if they have been in the Villa academy for the past 2 years, or 2 of the past 3 years with 1 loan to another English club. Villa must select a match day squad of 20 the night before the game. 14 of those 20 must be players that have been at Villa for the past 2 years, or 2 of the past 3 years with 1 loan. So 6 players can be newer signings, e.g. Aidan Borland. Only 3 of those 5 older players registered in the overall 40 can be picked in your match day 20. Any player who plays in 3 or more Champions League matches is no longer eligible to play in the Youth League.
