I saw him get mugged by Ings just before the pen, I saw him lie down when someone tried to drible him. and yet again the game passed him by. Won, he was dispossessed once all game, yes it is, and yes it's a block if you are in the way of a shot ffs. You can focus on the two things he did wrong all game all you like. That's why he's been linked with a whole host of top clubs lately, like Man City and Juventus. I'm not interested in debating this any further tbh. Still doesn't look back to his best post Covid but improving game on game. The lack of subs and the team around him tiring always makes the last 10-15 minutes more difficult. To me he is our second most important outfield player behind Jack. The guy is a star. He is never gunna be a stat machine that isn’t his role. People get caught up in this world of stats he’s a DCM. Personally I though Mginn has been poor last two games, Dougie covers an insane amount of ground, always nipping at opposition players and crucially is comfortable on the ball. He likes to move it forward and fast where possible. His alternative is Nakamba who has an awful first touch and it’s like a hot potato. Dougie can find a pass and set up play. Our goal he gets a quick switch on and dosent look to go home. He does a lot of the donkey work. But because not assist king, or wins every header people say the game passes him by Please don’t be naive. He is the glue that keeps us together. I would go as far as to say it was his marshalling in front of the back four after LD that was KEY in our improved defensive displays and led to safety. He's in the top 20 midfielders across the league for clearances and aerial battles won He's nowhere near the top 10 of those in terms of the actual numbers, but he's not exactly useless defensively His passing is also a lot better than many of those ahead of him on the list Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
