How much of pogba's transfer fee did mino raiola get? £20m wasn't it? He can talk about this until he's blue in the face, but he's not going to get 14 Premier League teams to agree to reduce the size of the league to 18 so it won't happen.
The Fun Factory
Yep. 18 is a non starter. PFA might complain about more matches which will result in more injuries but that is hardly a deal breaker.
Rds1983 Posted March 9, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted March 9, 2021 If they can't buy player's off each other then what happens when they're trying to offload a player? They'd need to sell him to a club not in the CL and likely have to accept a smaller transfer fee and much smaller wages. Which won't happen meaning they get stuck with the players until the leave on a free.
villa4europe
Yep, take for example the Arthur / Pjanic deal which both clubs used to fiddle FFP Now when barca want to flog a player for £80m and £300k a week it'll be to the team that finished 10th in the PL? Not going to happen, even though they'll probably try and spin that in to a benefit for the non CL clubs On paper as a headline it reads like they'll now have to buy the best non CL players available, weakening non CL teams and effectively getting the super league they want without making it official, it's elitism again from him

NoelVilla
They just talked about this on Swedish TV. Good way to destroy the game. The format really sucks too. Not that I watch much Champions League anyway.
Zatman
So does this mean Juventus will be one of the teams that can be cherry picked for not being in Europes elite I can imagine the new rules will also be quickly adding in no more away goals for teams like Juventus
Rino8 Posted March 10, 2021 Visiting Supporter Share Posted March 10, 2021 Of course Juventus with a higher wage bill than most of world football despite playing in an almost unsustainably poor league are the ones championing this Could we, the team paying a 36 year old over a million a week be the issue? No it's the Champions League format, actually.
villa89
Also something to watch out for is the ludicrous rules like transfer caps or reducing league sizes. These are often touted to scare people into accepting the actual proposal which is a bigger CL and probable loss of domestic cups. People will accept it if they think the alternative was a 18 team league.

It's got more 'big' teams than the Bundesliga, and develops really good players. I'd probably argue that, team for team, it's a better league than La Liga. There’s absolutely no need for an agent to take millions for setting up a transfer. I wonder how many transfers collapse because the demands of the AGENT are too high?

Wtf? Of course, it's designed so the "big" clubs can't ever not qualify. So Juventus, real Madrid, man united would all qualify every year regardless of where they finish in the league. HanoiVillan
I would be interested in the legal standing of the 'co-efficient' idea. Seems like it might have some problems with competition law, but obviously I'm not a lawyer, just speculating.
