Isn't it about time he had a thread? Things seem to be moving in the right direction -

Aston Villa have stepped up their bid to sign John Terry by making a concrete offer to the former England captain.

Villa are making a serious play for Terry and have now submitted a contract proposal which is being considered by the 36-year-old, who is a free agent after leaving Chelsea.

Telegraph Sport understands Terry has over ten "realistic" offers from clubs around the world but Villa have taken a significant step forward in the last 24 hours. Bournemouth, West Brom, Swansea, Birmingham and clubs in China and the MLS are all battling to sign Terry, who is likely to make a decision within the next fortnight.

But Terry is refusing to close the door on extending his career in the unlikely surroundings of the Championship, with Villa's offer understood to be lucrative and loaded with bonuses and incentives that could take the terms over £4million a year.

Other offers and counter-offers are expected to be made in the next few days as the race hots up.  Terry did hint at retirement during his tearful farewell at Stamford Bridge in May but he is determined to continue playing.

As a player he's a born winner and give his all on he field. Plus as stated above he won't tolerate people not putting a shift in.

As a person... no comment!

I've said it before, he won't allow players around him to drop their heads when things aren't going our way. 100% behind this.

Yep.

I used to dislike him till I found out what he did for Petrov.

Terry is my Schrodinger's cat. If he signs I will like him, if he does not I will think of him as a clearing in the woods. Until the pen hits or does not hit the contract I am in a state of limbo where both states are equally possible.

Brilliant, not just for Terry but all of them.

Never occurred to me to describe it thus - very funny.

He's been finished for a while now and I only see him being a more expensive Tommy Elphick. It's one of the problems when you have a manager like Steve Bruce, he thinks signings like this are a great thing and they aren't.

Never really could but id still take him.

Neither could Bobby Moore... Macca was never renowned for pace either.

We have not had players for years, who can read the game.

when you get one .....as a fan......its a learning curve.
