The R8 is a lovely car, but it will always have the problem that it is an Audi.  If I'm ever fortunate to be in the position where I have to choose whether to buy a Ferrari or an Audi then the Ferrari is always going to win purely because of the badge. It is incredibly shallow, but I'm fine with that.

I agree but then I was more referring to the fact the Audi was £70k cheaper so more people can buy it than the £195k Ferrari.

The Ferrari is clearly a bit flimsy.... I know it wasn't exactly real world conditions but still, it shouldn't have dissolved like that with a little bit of dust.

Thought last nights episode was much better. Enjoyed it.

Would have been nice to see how fast the Jaguar XKR-S went round the Madrid 'road circuit'.

I don't get you. It set a time of 57.x for the guys to (fail to) beat. Or do you mean all the off-camera stuff they did afterwards?

Anyhoo, as for the episode itself. I thought it was fairly mediocre tbh. Good ad for the R8 though.

Yeah, thats what I meant. It sounded like they all had a few more cracks at the lap and recorded more times. Would have been nice to see the set of 'best' laps.

Great ad for the Audi, and for me, had by far the best sound. The problem with owning a Ferrari is the automatic assumption people will make that you're a rocket polisher. Its a bit like the RR Sport in that respect.

im the opposite, ferrari, porsche and lambo do very little for me, id have the R8 every day of the week, think its a stunning car

but then if i was ever in that position it would be an aston martin, purely for the bond links

Decent episode last night.

This series does all feel a little phoned in though - last week looked like a grab bag of skits thrown together. This week felt like a fairly low rent episode from back when the series was at the top of it's game, it was just completely fine. Not particularly funny, or interesting. Just there. Couple of little laughs, nothing spectacular.

My elderly neighbour has an R8.  It's been sat on her drive for so long without being driven that it's got green slime all over it and looks like an abandoned Ford Escort.  It's probably got about 1,000 miles on the clock.

I prefer the inheritance plan.  You could be the talk of the island if Agnes (or whatever her name is) died in a mysterious piano falling from an upstairs window accident the day after she amended her will.

i thought they said they were still in the south when they were at the airport, thought it was something they'd edited to fit the show (they were driving to madrid werent they? but come across the airport half way through the trip)

It is still an enjoyable show which is all I care about. I like it when they do those silly road trips even when it is obvious some events are staged.

Id guess a fair amount of viewers watch for the road trips/challanges and comedy skits. When they start doing reviews on £200,000 Lamborghinis I tune out because I've got no interest in how fast it goes from 0 to 60 or what its made of because I'll never own one.

Is that correct?

I was under the impression that they were at Castellon Airport.

Plenty of new, disused airports in Spain!

Ciudad Real airport was the one I believe and Sesena the town... both a stones throw from madrid where they were going. Castellon would be a massive detour

What did everyone think of tonight's show? It's getting a lot of love on twitter, but I thought the Hovervan was ridiculous. Not that funny and supposedly cost £250k! It was like they were trying too hard to be funny.

Most of it was fine but the rower falling in, riverside diners getting sprayed and clarkson getting out of the van in the lock was just ****ing awful. They desperately need to cut out the scripted nonsense as the rest of the show and half of the hovervan skit was alright.
