With Brucey set to be unveiled shortly - Im expecting a pretty swift upturn in results....

However IMO the play offs look a tall order for this season ? - or are they ?

Never anticipated promotion this season,  I always thought next season would be achievable. Not sure about that now

There's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't still be able to achieve automatic promotion. There's a lot of points left to play for and other teams will drop points.

We've only lost 3, the same as Newcastle. We've got some of the best forwards in the division. Right manager can get us into the playoffs for sure.

Not that I'd be putting money on it mind...

I would expect the play-offs. We have good players. the league is bonkers. we're only one 5 game run of good results from chucking ourselves up there. Hardly a mountain

Equally one 5 game run of bad results and putting ourselves deeper in the shit!

well obviously. that applies all the time in any league with any manager. The inherent point was responding to suggestions we're too far adrift for promotion. It's perfectly within our reach if we start playing better than we have done to date. We don't need to go on a superhero type run to get into the promotional areas, just a very good run or two, which given the players and an experienced manager is not impossible.

I reckon the if we do make it to the play offs, then the final, the stress will kill me. Bigger than any cup final we've had before. Yes I include our European Cup win (although it was before my time).

We are 10pts behind 6th. Let's cut that in half by Jan then aim to catch them by Easter. I'm confident we can do that and as a bonus look who's 6th!!!

Would be very dissapointed if we didn't make the top 6 this season, even after a shit start.

Taking us up to the new year, we have home games against Wolves, Fulham,Blackburn, Cardiff,Wigan, Burton and Leeds. Is there any reason why a manager who knows what he is doing can't win every one of them?
Home form is where it is at I think. That's what needs to change.

As of right now we have 35 games left to play (this is only 3 less than an entire premier league season)

To achieve promotion/play-offs we basically have to win 4 or 5 more games over the course of the entire season than Norwich/Huddersfield/Sheff Weds/Brighton/Newcastle can manage.

We still have to play most of them twice so doing a double would potentially mean that we would only need to win 2 more games than these.

There is a long, Long way to go yet. We just have to start winning games.

Look at Leicester 18 months ago, On the 1st of april they were bottom of the league, 9 points behind even us. 8 games later they were 14th & finished 3 points better off than us despite the fact we actually managed to get 10 points along the way.  12 point swing in 8 games despite us actually doing ok.

If we actually manage to get the "new manager bounce" & hit the ground running the gap could be pretty much wiped out before the end of November and with teams all playing 6/7 games in december even the big teams are going to be inconsistent & drop points
