Scoring 12 goals in 14 league games is a concerning statistic for any club. That puts a ton of pressure on a defense and keeper who have only managed 3 clean sheets in the league this season - Fulham, Leeds, and Man U.

Unfortunately I can’t see them going down just because the bottom few teams (Sheff U, West Brom, Fulham, Brighton) are so poor. That being said, it appears they have a LOT of holes to fix in the squad, and that’s not an overnight fix. If they fall out of Europe next season and recruitment becomes that much more difficult... well anything can happen as we know only too well.

Let a man dream.

edit: quick check at the table and 12 goals for is 17th in the league, ahead of only Sheffield, West Brom, and Burnley. Even Fulham has managed to score 13. People say it’s early days, but we’re over 1/3 of the way into the league season. At what point does something become a trend?

It's Christmas and they're absolutely in a relegation battle. They'll almost certainly sort themselves out and get out of it, but the fact is they genuinely are in the conversation at the moment.

What if they don't sort themselves out though, which is entirely possible? Burnley will shithouse their way out of trouble like they always do, Brighton look like they could start to click any time now and Fulham aren't actually as bad as they looked when the season started. All three of them could pick up some form soon.

Meanwhile, Arsenal look like they're spiralling. They're shot of confidence, they look like they have no clue what they're doing, they don't even look like they like each other very much either. It's a shambles.

Premature? Maybe. But it is a real possibility.

At the moment they're on the path we were around 2012-13. Manager hyped but very inexperienced at this level. Quality striker but even creating chances a massive struggle with no creativity in midfield.

Alehouse defence, Rob Holding reminds me of Ciaran Clark in how bad he is in a back 4. Claiming youth players are the second coming, likes of Bannan and Weimann weren't for us despite some decent spells in premier league and while Saka is a promising talent, likes of Maitland Niles and Willock will be playing for a West Brom or Fulham in a few years. Mad to think Nkeiteh is starting games for them when he couldn't get in at Leeds when they were a championship team 12 months back.

Standards have just fallen there massively in last few years like it did with us post 2010. However despite how bad we were for most of 2012-13 it still took us three further season to actually get relegated so shows how bad you have to be to go down if you're an established club.

I actually think Arsenal are more on a path of a Newcastle who were a consistant top 6 club when they sacked Sir Bobby early in 2004 season. They then made some terrible managerial appointments to bump them down to lower mid table and then went down in 2009 with a squad full of old demotivated players like Owen, Nicky Butt, Viduka, Alan Smith etc so similar to Arsenal with likes of Luiz and Willian.

They'll still finish 10-15 points clear of 18th I suspect but this season is a big warning for them to get their s*** together.

Yeah i think people really just want them to get a Big Sam type long ball manager to grind out results to destroy Wenger legacy 😂

Not quite long ball but rumour was Mourinho was really interested in the job and was allegedly spotted at Emirates just before they sacked Emery. Just checked the dates and he was appointed Spurs manager a week before Emery left so interesting what would've happened there if they'd done that two weeks before.

Do have to chuckle at the Arsenal mania forum, Areta thread has "Arteta, taking us to the champions league or Championship?"

Like us at a certain point,  you just can't see them winning games at the moment against anyone and have a shoot own foot mentality which is great to see.

Hopefully they have a proper bad set of xmas results and the teams at the bottom get a few amazing results.
