The 2016 Takeover Thread

Well he says all of the right things, and you cannot knock his ambitions. My cautiously optimistic feel is starting to flicker a bit more towards optimistic on the swingometer of optimism.

I will bring myself back down a little though, back to the cautiously optimistic stage, as we have seen these kind of soundbites early on in other takeovers, notably our own US takeover 10 years ago with Proud history, bright future etc. Early signs are promising though, but now he needs to back up those words with positive actions and results. Only time will tell if he can manage to do that for our club.

As evidenced by Leicester this season.

Sounds like he suffers no fools, which is a good thing considering the malaise at the club.

I love that too. Attitude more important than talent. Didnt someone mention that he owns a company which sent something into space? Maybe he can get Gabby/Nzogbia and co on the next flight out.

Well obviously he is, even if he means it. But talk is cheap. From our mess to world domination in a few years? Blowhard.

But we'll see.

Yeah, I like people who are suitably blowhard-y and/or blustery, who can match it with actions (or money). Time will tell.

My only question is:

Why wait until we got relegated to buy us?

If he's worth so much surely it can't be to wait for the price to drop, that wouldn't make sense.

i would hope hes not that stupid that he would throw money away, he is a business man and wants to make money. he got if for half the price. all he must do is invest and get back to the premier league and he will get his money back and mabye more

One of the top 3 clubs in the world? In THE WORLD?

Wonder who he thinks the other 2 are who will be up there jostling with us?

I was feeling quite good about all this until I read that shit.

This will all end in tears.

We have no idea how long he's been interested.

From at least October onwards, any deal was dead in the water, due to the uncertainty of where we would be playing next season. Lerner would probably still have been driving for a higher price at that point. It was obvious that no deal could have been completed until our fate was decided.

Villa's empire is gonna be so wide and vast we're already planning to bulldoze St. Andrews to make way for Villa themed casinos.

I watched Hollis' interview, and he stressed that we were to become part of a Global Empire. Xia builds Cities! I somehow don't think they are pissing about.

I swear some of you probably sit in the corner of the dark room hiding from "the voices" 24/7.:D

If anybody's listening to 'the voices' it's you fantasists who swallow this bullshit. For 'proud history, bright future', read 'once bitten, twice shy'.

Can't be upset with a bit of ambition. You can't claim to want to be a top 3 club in the world if you're not going to significantly invest and make some significant improvements to the way we do business.

We've all been burned before, so we'll leave it at cautious optimism, but that beats the despair of 24 hours ago.

I'll not make a big deal about it, but if we are to get all flustered and cream our knickers at quotes we'll be top three on the planet. I guess we also have to give equal weighting to his message to Villa fans to 'forget the past'.

I'm sure this is just glib and means the 2015 / 16 season. Not 1982 or 1957 or William McGregor or Ian Taylor.......

He hasn't even waved his money at the bar yet and people are prepared to put out. He's only told us he's going to wave his money at the bar. Let's be classy and try and keep it in our pants until we've actually seen some drinks lined up on the table.

Didn't Carson Yeung say similar stuff when taking over the poo?

This all seems pretty familiar.  Hmmm.

Such a lazy comparison.  I am sure Abramovich, Henry, Levy and Sheikh Mansour (and counless other owners) said similar things when they took over but

Tony Xia and Carson Yeung are both from China so therefore..........Hmmm
