The 2016 Takeover Thread

Takeovers take a while to get through weeks possibly months. Extensive negotiations or not I find it hard to believe a media source would not pick up on it if indeed extensive negotiations are taking place. If not through the Villa side than the potential owner(s) side. Pretty much even premier league club takeover has been well known in advance. I believe last summer the intent was there to sell the club and that certain parties were interested, I believe Percy is also right regarding the disposal of BOAML and that Squire Patton Boggs is now in charge of the situation but that's about it. I'm just not sure on the extensive negotiations bit from the club. I'm not saying parties aren't interested I'd imagine plenty of interest would be there, just not convinced it's close.

I think Wang and Prince William should take over the club. In the future the stadium would be called Wang King Stadium. Should attract some non-football fans to generate some more income.

The rumour says 'A company linked to Oracle'  - so it could be anyone who uses Oracle software !!! - I suppose its more feasible than Laary or Oracle themselves.

It'll probably be a firm that makes parking ticket machines in that case.

After the soul destroying marathon of knife twisting that the last takeover thread was, hearing the name Larry Ellison at this point makes me just want to block myself from Villatalk until a takeover happens. We've been through enough, we don't need false hope, regardless of how transparent it is.

Aston Villa in advanced talks to sell club: £35bn buyer interested

ASTON VILLA are in advanced talks to sell the club to Oracle CEO and founder Larry Ellison, according to reports. The club have been in meltdown since suffering a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, which resulted in them being relegated from the Premier League. Within just 48 hours of Villa being demoted to the Championship the club saw directors David Bernstein and Mervyn King step down from their posts. However, it seems as if Villa have come by a bit of good news with The Sun claiming that the club are engaged in talks with Ellison over the potential sale of the club. This news comes after chairman Steve Hollis revealed he was engaged in ‘extensive negotiations in relation to the sale of the club’.Ellison, 71, is the seventh-richest man in the world according to Forbes’ list of billionaires with a net worth of £35billion. It is understood Villa owner Randy Lerner officially put the club on the market two years ago, but has now found a potential buyer in Ellison - who has been linked with the club in the past. Villa fans are understood to be sick of Lerner’s reign and are desperate for someone to take the club off his hands [under statement of the year]....

Rumour and factfile: Billionaire US tycoon Larry Ellison's firm linked with 'advanced' Aston Villa takeover talks

Is US computer giant set to take charge at Aston Villa?

Larry Ellison: Rumoured to have been seen around Villa Park. The fifth richest man in the world.

Way back in May last year we speculated about the tycoons who could take charge at Aston Villa , one of those was Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle.

The Californian-based multinational computer technology firm was founded by Ellison, the fifth richest person in the world.

He is a well known sports fanatic and has in the past been rumoured to have been seen at Villa Park .

With a $56 billion wealth, buying and transforming the fortunes of Villa would require mere small change.

It's the latest in a long line of ownership rumours, the latest being the Chinese links earlier in the week.

The Sun are today reporting that Oracle are in advanced talks with Villa Chairman Steve Hollis, if true it would be a takeover that would send waves through British football.

Who is Larry Ellison?

NAME : Larry Ellison

WORTH : $56 billion

TAKEOVER TALK : Ellison, 69, is a super-rich American with a strong interest in sports. Forbes ranked him as the fifth richest man in the world in 2014.

He is CEO of the Californian-based Oracle Corporation, a multinational computer technology firm. He loves movies, and even made a cameo appearance in the 2010 smash Iron Man 2 - but sport is his one true passion, including yacht racing.

A GOOD BET? Ellison is a born winner who was reportedly spotted at the crucial 3 - 1 Villa victory over Hull. His BMW Oracle Racing team enjoyed success in the America’s Cup in February 2010.

He owns many exotic cars, including an Audi R8 and a McLaren F1, but his favourite is the Acura NSX - which he is known to give away to friends as gifts.

He is also a licensed pilot who owns several aircraft.

Bust-up

More details have emerged about the boardroom bust-up which has blown a hole in Aston Villa's relegation recovery plans.

Villa are reeling after new directors David Bernstein and Sir Mervyn King quit just days after Villa's demotion to the Championship was confirmed.

It is now being reported that the duo took the decision to walk-out after an email exchange criticising the Randy Lerner was leaked to the owner.

The most interesting part of the article which is probably most bollocks is...

He is a well known sports fanatic

Hopefully!
