To win games and murder the opposition you need players that try and actually give a shit. Unfortunately for us, that's where we are failing.

I'm surprised that people actually want this crop of players to stay, thinking they'll actually change their ability and attitude in the Championship. I wouldn't trust them at all and think, like many ex players, that this bunch will struggle if they stay on.

Look no further than QPR to see how we will end up in the championship. Ability alone will only take you so far in that league, it's the reason why Burnley are doing so well as they have the right attitude and work ethic with a bit of quality IMO. You need to have the right attitude and quite frankly this current squad are the complete opposite and very similar to QPR. We will struggle despite the amount of people on the "board".

difference is Newcastle had battle hardened characters like Nolan, Smith, Barton, Carroll who would put in the graft. We have Micah Richards and Rudy Gestede who go out for a leisurely stroll every weekend

Richards won't be here and Gestede got 20 league goals like his last season in the championship.

We'll hopefully have a competent manager in charge and a less catastrophic transfer committee.

If we're sensible in the summer we'll end up with a very good Championship squad. I think, and hope, the "football board" will make this their priority and avoid the Tom Fox/Paddy Reilly/Tim Sherwood approach.

I agree. I remember a few seasons ago when QPR were relegated, the players were coming off in their last game having a chuckle. They were a  talented team, but they couldn't give a toss, and were happy to be there just to take the money. This is Villa now. If we expect to bounce back, we need a squad overhaul and get rid of the leeches that are posing as football players. This should be priority one.

I'm going to assume you are serious for a minute.

If we win all 7 remaining games this will give us 37 points which still only give us a 50/50 chance.

We still have to play Man United, Arsenal and Manchester City away.

We don't even look like drawing a game never mind winning one.

I wouldn't bet on it at 100000-1 with monopoly money.

Actually i was not serious.

Iam looking forward to be playing in the championship, so many teams we havent met in ages.

And i must be more fun going on away trips meeting other real fans instead of plastic glory hunters.

I really hope your right but I know this club and we be probably left with the clowns that send us down and probably all got a bloody relegation payrise in their contract :(

 I really hope your right

The Championship. 2 automatic promotion spots, 4 playoff spots, with 18 other teams making up the numbers. 24 teams, with more than half of those teams with the credentials to grab one of those 6 spots. This is football too, so x factors and chaos will be running rampant. Bouncing straight up is no guarantee.

Well said BOF.

I don't think it's a gimmie that we'll come straight back up but people go on about the Championship as if it's the toughest league in the world. This is the league where our very own Gestede got 20 goals in a season let's not forget.

I'm sure he actually had players that could cross a ball though

If were going to rely on gestede next season we need people who can put the ball on his head otherwise he will just do his musical statue routine all season

I'd have him as a backup player and like to see someone else leading the line next season he will be useful when we need to mix things up but i don't think we should rely on him to get us promoted

Desperately want NUFC to come down with us now. If they lose to Norwich next fixture that pretty much seals it for them. Happy if they come down with us too, as we should have the jump on them in terms of preparing for next season, so long as we sort out a decent manager soon.

That's the thing people aren't realising....we have two month head start on the other relegated teams. We know our fate now, the others will find it out in the middle of May.

Bernstein said it the other day actually so at least someone at the top has for once realised the situation. Get the Garde pay off sorted, make some decisions on players futures, let's use the head start for once.

For a start I wouldn't give McDonald caretaker role for rest of the season, that would be a waste. Wait until the relegation is confirmed and then appoint the manager as he can then see in competitive games how useless some of these players are rather than having to judge it in pre season.

Realistically has anyone worked out if we continue to lose like these losers specialise in, when is the relegation likely to be confirmed against which opponents?

Home to Bournemouth on the 9th April if Norwich pick up 4 points in their next two Newcastle (H), Palace (A), if as you stated we do the likely and lose the next two!

Well this is fun reading :(

That three game winning streak we had in 07/08 was awesome. Bolton 4-0, Derby 6-0, Birmingham 5-1

What a great few weeks to be a Villa fan.

I actually hope that happens, players deserve to feel the wrath of the Holte end at the end of the Bournemouth game rather than at Old Trafford where they'll be a couple of thousand tucked in the corner and they can get off the pitch quickly. I want them to at least feel a tenth of the anguish we will have when it's finally confirmed and they can get away with it in an away game much more.

7 games left. Get a new manager in, win all 7 games, survive and then rebuild for next season. We must never allow ourselves to skirt this close to relegation from the Premier League again. Thank god we didn't leave it too late.
