Was a bit-part player at Chelski, then all of a sudden was a key part of their team under Conte, then seemed to completely disappear again.... rodders0223
Why does everyone go on about Defoe like he was some elite goalscorer. He was a 1 in 3 man, rarely if ever bagged 20. But you hear Defoe and it's "what a goalscorer!" He was alright, okay, didn't do much if he didn't score. Is it because he was a poacher he's got some aura about him? If he was a target man banging 10-12 goals a season nobody would give a ****.

See your point, definitely not up there as an elite level player, but 302 goals and 58 assists in 760 career games isn't bad to be fair. And most of that for middling teams like Spuds, Wet Spam and Sunderland. Scored 140 for Spuds. Scored 20 in 57 for England. I think his biggest achievement was his longevity. Most strikers have a shelf life of 6-10 years whereas he kept his levels up well into his thirties.
Keyblade
He was never elite, but he's always been a "good" striker for many years. It's lime Watkins or Toney playing like they are now across 3 different decades for various clubs.

Think was the Spurs media thing but he was never really a guaranteed starter there Always felt when he scored goals they would be in patches. Only once he ever got near 20 league goals
villa4europe
I always thought he was a head down hit the ball goalwards really **** hard type striker too rather than a great finisher Seemed to leather most of his goals from about 10 yards out He was decent enough though

KevinRichardsonsMoustache
Going through this thread and seeing the Rickie Lambert posts. It’s so tragic it almost seems like a spoof: his reference to himself as intelligent, the pronunciation of the word ‘beliggerent’. He’s like a parody of a parody, as if it had all been written by Stephen Merchant and a Ricky Gervais. He’s been on it again recently. Amazing that water speaks English. Oh and please let’s give his appearance with ‘the magna Carta sisters’ the hits it so deserves:

Mantis
Pavel Pogrebnyak. One of three strikers who came to the Premier League in the January 2012 transfer window, scored a load of goals in the second half of that season and looked like they'd tear up the league, and then never replicated it again. Who can name the other two without Googling?
