One thing to note - at the final stages of the preparation, the club showed us three options - the gas lamp, the round badge and one they called Unleashed, which was just the lion and the wording around it. With the round badge winning, we've actually got two of those three options - the Unleashed badge being exactly the lion, the words Aston Villa and 1874 (and the star) from our new crest, but without any of the circles - it's the one shown on the side of the North Stand in the club material showing off the options. In one colour, that looks really good on a plain background and I think it'll be used in lots of places - I think it adds some weight to this being our new crest and I think when we start to see the crest being broken down and used in different ways it'll prove popular. It's not flashy or deliberately controversial, it's simple, it's got a little bit of class and it's very much an Aston Villa crest - I like it and I think over time we'll find more and more ways to use it. 5 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My OCD also doesn't like that the 1874 doesn't match the font size of Aston Villa which I understand why it just doesn't look right and looks lost. ferguson1 Posted November 10, 2022 Share Posted November 10, 2022 I personally don’t have any major issues with the new badge/crest and I think when we start to see it introduced from next season, we’ll like it more and more. It’s not mind blowing or outstanding but it has a nice traditional feel about it and it’s who we are. I would have liked a yellow/gold Lion but understand the reason for change.
