We lose to a last minute deflected goal. Sack the manager,all the players are shit ...... If last few minutes don’t happen ..we are brilliant,we are going to finish top 6 .... There are random events in any game,we have beaten Wolves last year and year before with last minute goal mostly undeserved ,this year it’s their turn. We weren’t brilliant but international breaks with players from Argentina and Brazil doesn’t do us any favours. We lose 3-0 with minimal attacking threat is time to worry.

Quantum of Solace takes some beating as the worst Bond film.I think there was a strike by scriptwriters at the time so there was at least some excuse. But I agree there is a true test of any film that when you are channel hopping late at night even though you have seen it many times you stay up to watch it,there are some films you can’t turn off ,Withnail is one ,Good the Bad Uglyetc another

I thought that the deal needed a vote by the other Premier League clubs to happen and you need at least 14 clubs to vote for the takeover. Why would any other club want this to happen?

There have been many great James Bond themes even Aha But ultimately the Barry Bassey combination Diamonds,Goldfinger etc is unsurpassable .

Tinker Tailor is such a brilliant book.I think I must have read it 3 or 4 times.He is such a beautiful writer and Smiley is a very enigmatic character. I enjoyed Smileys people but I didn’t really connect with A perfect spy. I have really enjoyed Ben Macintyre’s factual books about the Cold War especially The Spy and The Traitor where he describes how we smuggled a top Russian KGB defector out of Moscow in 1990s

Apparently Ronaldo has scored more goals against us than any other premier league team. Why do we seem to be the favourite team for great players to score against?I am sure there are many others players than seem to fill their boots when they play us ,Lampard,Gerrard and Fowler etc

Couldn’t agree more. Cowans one of the greatest and loyal Villa players played for a couple of Italian clubs and even Blackburn but is still a Villa legend. For me Barry is not given respect he deserves due to him leaving for Man City.He was an exceptional player for us for 10 seasons and always gave his best, many revere players who contributed much less. Grealish’s contribution to us in the past 4 years has been magnificent and we should appreciate what we had and not let him leaving cloud those memories. .

You wonder sometimes how much taking the new ball has an effect mentally on bowlers and batters that causes wickets to fall.

Went to the 4th day at Lords and had a brilliant day and expected a victory the next day.I still haven’t recovered from that defeat but really enjoying this test where we seem destined to win. I must say although we lost the last test it shows how brilliant test cricket can be.No other sport can keep your attention for so long and provide so much tension and excitement.

I have to admit Southgates treatment of aJack is damping my joy at reaching the final. On the other hand ,Sterling was our best player on the night and I think he is keeping Jack out of the team.Look at Rashford and Sancho they aren’t playing at all. I think Villa fans and Jack have to be grateful for any time he gets on the pitch. Jack will only get on the pitch if we need a goal.

I think he has been excellent for us when he has played.Yes against Palace we were poor defensively but think he wasn’t main culprit.His main strength is in the air and in certain games this could be a real asset. To have a central defender who cost 3 million and can come in when required and do a good job is a really good thing.Ferguson was a master of having a few bit part players in certain positions.It then means you can spend big amounts on other positions.

Agree totally. I was brought up in an area equidisant from St Andrews and Villa Park but fortunately my older brother decided to support Villa so we all followed. SHA -the ground,the team,the fans,the general ethos is so bleak and always has been.To have that instead of Villa,I would probably be needing some medication for it.

I live in an area where they have just been introduced.So many roads are now closed whilst one main road now has a 1 mile jam all the time. Not sure what this achieves.Some journeys are not feasible if they require a number of bus changes and walking. I would always use public transport if it involves similar travelling time.Around here it’s extremely divisive,some roads are now extremely quiet and people who don’t have to commute in the morning are happy.People that live on these new congested roads and people that need to commute are unhappy. Who makes these decisions are they accountable?No.Is it reducing traffic ?No it’s moving it to busier roads. To me having 1 mile tailbacks,and increasing journey times don’t make sense enviromentally.

It has been mentioned on here the relative success of Labour in the 2017 election. Whilst there was some good policies in that manifesto I think the 2017 election was a second Brexit vote.People saw that if the Tories won a majority it would be hard Brexit.and many people at that time didn’t want that. Later after the electoral deadlock in 2019 they changed their mind.

He was ok yesterday but he hasn’t recaptured his form post lockdown last year. What I don’t understand is when we are playing out from the back Mings passes to Luiz who then passes it back to Mings to play a long ball.I don’t remember Luiz ever taking the ball himself and passing forward.Surely he is closer to our other players and Luiz has greater passing ability.Is it a confidence thing?Or is it tactical so we don’t lose the ball in a dangerous area.

I think there was a lot more people in there that night unofficially.I don’t ever remember the Holte being so packed. For large parts of that game I couldn’t breathe.

If you read my first post carefully it says “through a player” you assumed I meant the Villa player. I was being opaque because I do not want my source to be identified.

This is the last I post on this subject. I know someone who is a player at another club.The ex Villa player told this player about Jack’s problems. I have no proof ,no blood tests,no photos . I don’t really want to believe it either.

All I can say it is a player who left us last summer.He still has a lot of contacts with many existing players. When I first heard all this talk I dismissed it but this new information came unsolicited and I can think of no reason why this source should lie.
