Now that Trezaguet and El gazi are not around it seems we need a scapegoat. I am not sure if this is a Villa thing or maybe all clubs do this but on here . there has to be someone who needs replacing or who is playing shit. Watkins didn’t play well today but he has the hardest job of any player in the team.He needs to accept the ball and usually hold it giving time for other players to join in the attack.Every move he makes is usually closely marked by the oppositions best defender. I think his all round game and his ability to hold and to run with the ball is one of the best on the league.Where he is weak is his positioning in the area and his finishing.Villa fans tend to like focusing on what our players are not good at and ignoring what they are good at. Because what this club really needs is to sell a lot of players and buy a whole new set who we can find fault with.We have only spent £500 million in the last 10 years.

Our batting displays have been mostly poor on this tour but I do think we don’t give enough credit to their bowling attack. Cummins in particular is probably the best fast bowler in the world at the moment and they seem to have an inexhaustible supply of other incredibly tall accurate bowlers.

I still listen to CDs a lot especially in the car where I burn my own compilations of songs. I have recently had a strong urge to purchase albums I listened to growing up which I had mainly on tape. I like the idea of owning a physical version of the songs rather than having access to them on the internet,maybe that’s a bit old fashioned and not environmentally friendly. So for me CDs are very much alive.

As others have stated that was a game we should have won.We didn’t make the most of our dominance in the first half and we were sloppy in possession in the second.We seem to be weak . So who is responsible and who do we replace? As much as it pains me it’s Mcginn and Luiz.They are not consistent enough and if they play poorly we lose.The big problem in replacing them is that it’s going require £40-£50 million .

I still use teletext a lot.Maybe I am a bit old school but to see football results and when goals are scored with other games on one page is great. I used to love it when we were in the championship and if you wanted to look at the table they weren’t able to fit all teams onto 2 pages. So they had 10 teams on the first page and next 10 on the second page and on the 3rd page had the remaining 4 teams.So you would be looking at the second page thinking you were in danger of relegation without realising there was another 4 teams to consider.

I wouldn’t disagree.Those goals he scored at the end of the first season were mostly instinc strikes he didn’t have time to think. But having a forward player doing a lot of defensive work especially against the better sides can make a huge difference.It keeps you in games and prevents you from conceding early which ultimately cost Smith his job in the last few games,

The funny thing about Trezeguet yes his first touch can be atrocious but without him we would have been relegated in our first season back.His defensive workrate was immense and players like Bailey and Traore although they are far more talented never replicate this. This leaves our defence more exposed and we concede far more goals.

When was the last time a great British player became a great manager? I remember Dalgeish but to me it seems all the great managers in England have been average players at best.

I have very similar feelings that I had when Brian Little resigned.Brian and Smith have been excellent managers for us and I feel their tenure was cut short too early. When I see some of the names we are being linked with,it is bringing me out in a cold sweat. DEAN BACK IN the campaign starts now.

I think Nuno is being overlooked .Incredible rise from championship to Europa league in nearby team. Yes football wasn’t free flowing but was very effective.To me he is a safe option with premier league experience Relegation is a real possibility this season,Newcastle will invest heavily in January and Burnley always get out of it.Then your looking around,Watford and Norwich look weak but who else?Are we going to finish above Brighton,Palace ,Wolves doesn’t look like it. You have picked in my view the best 5 managers in that time. Would disagree about it being the right decision in Saunders and Little cases.And maybe even Smith.

What about Thierry Henry ?Many were happy to have him a few years back. I think Nuno will be way ahead of Gerrard,Terry etc Promotion and two 7th placed finishes with local team are pretty good credentials

People writing off a player who has started 2 games?A player who already has 4 assists and has scored,has just returned from injury and come from foreign league. Nothing really surprises me on this site.Our team, manager or players are either best in the world ever or totally shit and there is no room for temporary loss of form,fitness issues or confidence It must be fantastic for our players to know that Villa fans are so patient and allow them time to settle into a new country and league.

How players are judged is affected by how they leave the club. Underated Gareth Barry in 9 seasons was as talented as any player we have had in the last 30 years.He contributed more to us due to his longevity than many many players who are now lorded.The only player in my time who trumps him massively is Sir Sidney Cowans who is not and has never been underated. Might include El Mohammadly not as talented or long but underrated. Overated Djemba Djemba not really overated but without doubt the worst footballer that has ever kicked a ball in the West Midlands and that is saying a lot.

So we were terrible and Wolves had loads of chances in that 80 minutes that we were terrible in . They dominated possession Martinez made numerous saves to keep us in the game ? No. Did we play great ?No We can be terrible and we have been terrible but today we were not terrible for 80 mins.
