Think they wont be offering higher going forward. De Gea expires this summer

Yep, can't help but think that the announcement is linked hi the de gea negotiations, the good times are over, who knows who else they have lined up for renewals next, could be ways round it with bonuses and signing fees etc

To be fair to them they're probably right when you look at the performances and mentality of their highest paid players over the years, de gea, pogba, sanchez, now ssancho gives them the opportunity to reset the structure rather than have players like Anthony come in and get a 6x pay rise

It’s just a farce. They may cap wages at a mere £200,000 a week but for players they want to pay more will get monthly extras like loyalty bonuses.

Haaland apparently earns more in the extras than he does in his basic pay.

It’s still a better way to go though isn’t it? Making the big wages more performance based.

They have been terribly run in recent years and need to make these types of policy changes.

I doubt many are performance based. Loyalty bonuses paid quarterly are the norm now. To act as an incentive not to push for a transfer. We saw Sterling’s loyalty payment on his leaked Man City payslip, it’s just a way of keeping a (false) wage structure. Maybe it’s also a FFP loophole enabling clubs like City and PSG to stack their squad on mega salaries.

Have Man United had the easiest run to a cup final in history (assumes they beat Forest)?

Villa, Burnley, Charlton, Forest and then potentially Southampton in the final.

Its got to be up there.

Chelsea and Liverpool got to the FA Cup final last season without playing a Premier League team to the semis though City played Liverpool

Chelsea got Palace

Our run to the final in 19/20 was pretty easy in fairness until Leicester in the semis

Sold to a consortium from Dubai ?

Qatar said to be interested in buying a Premier League club as well

interesting times

Wouldn't believe it until its official, which because they're on the yank stock exchange they have to announce as early as when talks take place I think

Ours in 2015 was easy, certainly up to the semi final- Blackpool, Bournemouth reserves, Leicester, Albion. All home ties. I think we used all of our luck in one year and have to wait another five years to be allowed to win a game.

A bidding war between Qatar and Dubai… that’s the dream!

Newcastle will smash Southampton in next month and will be favourites to be Man United in the final unfortunately.

I’d assume so yes, unless lightning strikes twice and Southampton defy the odds like they did against City.

Us?

Crewe, Brighton reserves, Wolves under 20s, Liverpool under 12s up to the SF at least the other year. Of course we didn't put out our best 11 ourselves in those ties.

It wasn't Liverpool under 12s, it was their reserves as the 1st team buggered off to the middle east.

Maybe you are thinking of the FA Cup match when WE played our under 12s against them and they went full strength.
