Letting De Gea go on a free to replace him with the clown they've got now is bad business, even for them. Taibi wasn't this bad.

I think Onana has the most clean sheets in the league

It's unbelievable they're so high in the league.

Sort of, given that they've been generally crap, but looking at their fixtures shows that they've had a fairly straightforward run of games recently. They've beaten Wolves, Forest, Burnley, Brentford, Sheffield United, Fulham, Luton and Everton. If that was the bottom 8, no-one would be too surprised.

They've lost every game against anyone near the top 7 (Man City, Brighton, Spurs, Arsenal) and at home to Palace.

They're absolutely shite (relatively).

Newcastle A, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Liverpool A, West Ham A and Villa are their next 6 games - only one of those is an absolute banker, although I've no doubt they'll be given some help to win the final home game there...

Next 6:

Newcastle (a) - D

Chelsea (h) - W

Bournemouth (h) - W

Liverpool (a) - L

West Ham (a) - W

Villa (h) - D

11 points out of 18, that should keep them bobbing around 5-6th.

Can't see them getting 11 points there.  Newcastle away is a solid fixture.  Obviously Anfield as well.  Chelsea are actually playing largely pretty well so really wouldn't be surprised to see them win at Old Trafford; likewise us (although our history isn't great there...) and West Ham have beaten Chelsea and Arsenal and drawn with Newcastle at home, so not a banker either.

You'd expect this version of Man Utd to beat Bournemouth at home, but the rest?  Who knows.  They could honestly lose every other game.

It’s a really bizarre situation, and similar to DdG last year.

The teams clean sheet record was decent, but at an individual level makes MANY individual errors.

It highlights how clean sheets and great goalkeeping are not as aligned as you might think.

There's much more to clean sheets than how good a goalkeeper is. It is yet another football stat that mis-used routinely as football is not a game that can be measured well by stats.

The important thing for goal keepers these days is how high up the pitch you can play and how good your passing is. It's all anyone seems to care about.
