Chop chop! Lets all gawp at Newcastle (again)

They did actually manage 21 shots today, only 4 ended up on target but they hit the post & had multiple shots blocked. One of those days where it just didn't want to go in. considering Burnley have won 4 & drawn 2 of their last 6 games it doesn't seem like too bad of a result.

They have kept clean sheets in 29% of their games this season, can't lose if you don't concede

We had Bruce to build a solid base and Deano to add the excitement.  Ok it was the level below but last year was fun.

West Ham had Big Sam and Moyes then went to Premier League winning Manager Pellegrini before back to Moyes! They are no further forward.

I agree you need to be defensively solid to be successful Kevin Keegan had some great attacking teams but won bugger all.

I think certain managers buy certain players to fit their ideals and going from one style to the next adds it's own issues.

The best managers find a balance or adjust their tactics to the opposition.  Play the percentages.

Deano is learning the hard way but should we survive he will be better for it.

Bruce is Bruce and will never change.

Deano won’t be the better for it

He played the same way at Walsall and Brentford

Both sets of fans will tell you they were shit at the back

Smith should be nowhere near the premier league

He hasn’t got a clue at this level

Not a single Brentford fan would want him back.

4 games without a goal, booed off at home, fans chanting for subs to be brought on...

I think they're key to relegation, got us, west ham, brighton, Watford, Bournemouth all left to play

Bruce's teams usually does ok in his first 2 seasons. 3rd season is when it usually falls apart.

It's like the Mourinho cycle.

They're bound to score a goal one of these days, and when they do I'm sure it will shut a few people up.

because he cant build, whatever people think of his time here they must still admit the short termism which is giving us problems this season

He did bring us SJM though. And Nyland who everyone seem to be praising now. + Elmo and Hourihane who are excellent squad members. We were in a financial mess last pre season, rumours in us going under administrations. That's not Bruce's fault btw that's all on the owners.

He didn't do all bad.

1 season he stabilized us.

2nd season took us to a play off final.

3rd season it all fell apart, but he doesn't deserve abuse.

Bruce's first summee was a lot of loans wasn't it? Thats part of Championship football. Just like Smith loaned a lot of players and it cost us hundred million quid to replace them.

His second summer we were skint and he still managed to bring in McGinn and El Ghazi.

RDM is the one that deserves biggest blame in regards to recruitment IMO.

RDM brought in players who changed the rotten culture in dressing room like Chester, Jesi, Elphick, Adomah

And so he should've given those guys were on 30-40k. They were all easy signings to make really in terms of identifying what we needed at the time e.g. Adomah proven player at championship level so obvious move to go for him when Boro wanted Adama.

It was still rotten when Bruce took over man! Talk about revisionism ffs.

Along with those he brought in McCormack, Gollini and Tshibola who would have offset any positivity coming from the likes of Elphick and Jedi.

There's much to argue about the last 5 years of our history but to claim that RDM changed the culture is so far wide of the mark it's unreal (and evidently reflected in the fact that we won 1 in 11 games under him).

Nobody said he changed the culture the players he brought did.

Everybody shares a bit of the blame for me. RDM bought some good players who helped change the culture in the dressing room, but also spent lots on garbage. McCormack and Tshibola alone cost more than most clubs in the division spent all season, and between them they contributed nothing at all. Bruce stabilised the club, and brought in good players like Hourihane and McGinn, but also bought some expensive flops like Lansbury and Hogan, and too many of his signings were older and had little shelf-life. That being said, it's up to the owners of the club to manage its financial stability, and the situation of nearly going out of business falls on them, not the manager. Smith managed well with what he had, but too many of the signings last summer haven't proven adequate.

They all have a mixed record.
