As others have said, it's brilliant.

On that subject, there's a new show on Netflix called "Painkillers" that is apparently on the same subject.
I've not seen it but sounds like it's probably a good watch for Dopesick fans

Tis good but Dopesick is superior. Still an interesting watch tho.

Given that alcohol is the most harmful drug of all then why is it legal when many of the other drugs are illegal?

"Alcohol is the most dangerous drug in the UK by a considerable margin, beating heroin and crack cocaine into second and third place".

History. Alcohol has been relatively ubiquitous in most society for thousands of years. Wine is in the Bible.

Synthetic drugs, on the other hand, are a more recent “invention.”

A senior Met Police officer who drew up the force's anti-drugs strategy has been sacked for refusing to provide a urine sample for cannabis testing.

The actions of Cdr Julian Bennett, who joined the Met in 1976, were found to have amounted to gross misconduct.

He was cleared by a three-person disciplinary panel of smoking the illicit substance.

His former flatmate Sheila Gomes accused him of using it daily before heading to work at New Scotland Yard.

She reported Mr Bennett in July 2020 and, in the presence of an assistant commissioner, he was asked to provide a sample.

It's just getting silly now, isn't it?

Completely goes without saying..... don’t ever touch drugs if you can avoid them. They/I have wrecked my life in every way possible.... it all started out as fun and good times but years later my addiction to them has destroyed everything I ever had.

if your reading this and thinking nah they are ok and I’m ok... so did I for many years! Cocaine over the last 12 months has took my relationship, family, home, money.... the lot.... I have even tried to take my life twice In the last 6 months because of it. I’ve done years of using many drugs... pretty much everything bar heroin and crack. Just don’t do it. Don’t be pressured or feel like your left out. It’s complete bulls**t... you may end up like me. You DONT want that I promise you!

i do everything I can possible to stay away from them but every time I have money I end up doing them it’s such a sad, low life exsistence ending up like me. I do meetings most nights in an attempt to stop but just cannot for the life of me do so...

i was once that guy who was in “control” of my using and have now ended up using any time I have money in my pocket. Please seek help if you you read this and think you may have a problem of any kind. Don’t end up like me! I promise you Thinking/feeling suicidal most days because you can’t get drugs or live a normal life day to day without them is NOT the way to go!

all the best all of you who read this but please don’t end up like me, it really isn’t worth that line... or whatever your drug of choice is.

Hang in there. I remember feeling similarly when in the depths of my alcoholism. I found a way out and feel so much better now. Keep going to meetings and looking for a way out - you’ll find it

You sound really low, have you told someone who's close to you how you feel? If you can't speak to them look for the number of the local crisis team, they'll listen.

I've struggled with my mental state for years, and I found that speaking to a professional helped in the long run.

I sincerely hope you get through this.

I am sure he won't mind me saying this but @Rugeley Villais a man who was in a similar position and turned it round, it's not a cul de sac, merely a junction.

I’m doing alright yeah.  Just over 6 months sober and clean but it’s been up and down which is expected but I’m very grateful. I do 3/4 meetings a week to keep my head in order. I’m socialising with new people from the meetings I go to, we go for coffee and even went for an Indian over Xmas. I can honestly say I’ve not come close to drinking in the last 6 months. Yes there’s been times I’ve fancied a few but it’s just a nice thought which I know can’t happen. Cocaine urges? Have them now and again , had quite a big urge last night where I fantasised about using, but I won’t act on it. If I wasn’t doing my meetings I’d have probably fell off the wagon several times in the last 6 months.

Stopping is the easy bit, it’s staying stopped and living life sober which is the challenge. The last time I drank/used I ended up in a very low place. My wife and kids had gone away for a week up to Scotland and I was in some crack den until 4 in the morning which was brutal physically and mentally. After that I knew  I needed to really try to stay sober this time around.

Germany.

From 1 April

Over 18s can possess up to 25g of cannabis in public.

Adults can grow up to three plants, per household.

But people won't be allowed to smoke joints within sight of schools, sports centres or in "pedestrian zones" between 7:00 and 20:00.

From 1 July

Growers associations or "social clubs" can be established with up to 500 members.

Members must be over 18 and live in Germany.

The clubs can grow and distribute the drug on a strictly not-for-profit basis.

Consuming the drug on site will not be allowed.

All seems reasonable, especially the above.

The last thing humans need is another legal drug IMO. Especially with the strength of modern cannabis plants. We've enough problems with alcohol. Although I expect cannabis will become legalised across Europe very soon.

Will it stink less than the stuff that’s around at present?

Imagine it being legit for the guy downstairs with issues to be smoking that shit 24/7 through a hot summer.

Drugs have been around for years, there's evidence that psychoactive drugs were used in pre - historic times. The native Indians and their "Peyote".

Old boy just moved in next door from me. Keeps himself to himself but the weed stank is very strong. My missus is appalled and I don’t really give a hoot. I don’t mind the smell and I can get a contact high if I lean far enough out of the bedroom window.

Having said that, I was fortunate enough to have a long weekend in New York last autumn. The smell of weed was strong, sickly and inescapable. I was fed up of it by the time we got home.

I’m genuinely more concerned about invasive smells than what Kevin next door sticks in his arm or sucks in to his lungs. That’s his business.

I think we can safely assume neighbourhoods where the local shop sells 3 litre bottles of super strong grog in volume will stink of weed.

They do anyway.

Not sure elsewhere? The smell will be around, but it won't always have the intensity that's become the norm over the past couple of decades?

The smell sells on the street, but that's not such an issue when you're buying from a seed merchant, or using a vape or baking cookies?
