The Randy Lerner thread

Well Lerner is worth $1 billion and Arison is worth $6 billion.

Id like to think that if he turned up with his paltry 6 billion there would be a slight shake of the head from Falkner and a gentle prod towards the exit.

that with the man city fan claiming we were being bought out by ellison stinks of bullshit

until i saw a tweet from him claiming that benteke had done his knee ligaments at 12.52 on april 3rd, changed it at 1.06 to achilles, looking at the benteke thread it was 4hrs later until it broke on here, claims to know someone at the club

still struggling to believe a 69 year old with no obvious interest in football (or a sports club in america) would suddenly decide to buy us

Heres why im confident we wont get a new owner anywhere in the near future unless randy asked for a ridiculously low sale price

who in there right mind would be interested in buying a football club for £250milliom,that has spent the last 4 years fighting relegation, would need to outlay, just to get us top 6, £60million pounds in transfer fess, plus x ammount of money in wages, which we couldn't afford to pay after our last folly at getting in the top 6, so we would need new sponserships, but the big bluechip sponsors wouldn't be bothered with us, the monopoly of top 4 is sewn up for the foreseeable future, with ffp in place, it would be impossible to buy Aston villa and get us top 4, season on season, and that would be the key, continued success, with incurring major fines and transfer embargoes.

and that's before you look at upgrades that would need doing to the north stand, in 1 season, a new owner could spend £350million on villa and we would be back to where was 5 years ago. Still making up the numbers.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's impossible. Difficult, yes. Unlikely, yes. But if Everton can make a good push for Top 4, what's to say we couldn't? (with investment etc)

The continued success is just as difficult as achieving it the first time, but it's still not impossible.

I do agree with your points about the likelihood of us being taken over though. The post on the newbie forum just sounds too good to be true.

If he sucks off a horse he should film it and sell it on the internet.Might be able to buy an extra player with the proceeds.

How much do you think people are willing to pay to watch a stranger suck off a horse?

Especially when you can stream that stuff from most niche porn sites for free. Some people have more money than sense.

( I'll try to keep the faith thanks :) lets see if we can stop in the division first)

Philip Anschutz is another name I've seen mentioned a few times I presume people are making that connection because he owns Houston Dynamo who we play in the Summer. He's another in his Seventies though, for some reason I've got a feeling that the new owners might not even be American.

Interesting. His post about the Achilles actually comes at 17:06. Articles about the injury then started breaking:

The Guardian - 18:38

Daily Mail - 17.23

BBC - 19.34

  1. Christian Benteke has done his Cruciate Knee Ligament. You heard it here first #avfc

    Expand

    12:52

  2. @sp4nnersavfc @biggestvillan from within. Not sure when it'll be made public

    Expand

    13.48

  3. @wolfie_mcfc @sp4nnersavfc I will take it with a pinch of salt. Seems to be the achilles heel of some footballers lately those ACL injuries.

    Expand

@biggestvillan @sp4nnersavfc Apologies. It's his achilles tendon that has been torn

Someone posted on that Bell's Ringing forum saying that he knows who is interested but it's only 80% complete.

Any progress from 80%?

;)

81%.

1 month 2 days and 6 hours remaining...

I may have to reassess my piss-taking view of that new forum as I think they broke today's news.

They'd have to be rich, but a fair whack richer than Randy rich. Then they'd have to frivolous, bored, mental or lonely.

Buying a Premier League football club is a hiding to nothing these days and you'll get literally no where with it unless you've got a ridiculously large willy that you're looking to swing (read: are multi-billion pounds rich and have an emirate state that you're looking to promote).

A lot more people would have known about a players injury than would know about a takeover.

not sure, i know we dont have shareholders etc so we dont have to make official announcements but id have thought that if it got a certain stage in negotiations then you'd have to start bringing in sponsors etc and letting them know, and if it was happening in the summer then negotiations must be fairly well advanced

what i would say is the type of people who know about the business side of the club and could leak this sort of information probably wouldn't be the type of people that also know that kind of information about the playing side of the club that quickly, unless he's very high up which is unlikely

Not wish to be pedantic but who are the top 4 who are sewn up.

Man Utd have missed out and could struggle next year, Arsenal, Man City who potentially could have a player embargo with the FFP ruling?

There will always be opportunities and the key is to be in a position to take advantage.

I think it will be a uk based consortium - fronted by a football or villa person - I don't actually think anything is happening in that respect right now. - The Larry Ellison thing just doesn't add up, why would somebody that age suddenly want to buy an ailing football club...?

Which we majorly screwed up the first time we had the opportunity.
