AndyBM
would certainly knock his confidence how is he when keeping, does he make the effort like schmiechel or just stand there like a knome like david james?

Popular Post Milfner
Yes agree with this idea . I'd say Guzan is nailed on for Player of the season. So you want our player of the season dropped then?
VillaChris
What people need to remember is that after letting in 5 at Man.City Guzan responded with 3 clean sheets in 5 games (and the other two games he conceded just 1 per game). He kept us in it against Spurs, we could've easily been down 4 nil at half time without his saves. Let's also remember Given's two games have been conceding two at Swindon and two at Norwich where it seemed he was very shaky. So based on that it's madness we'll get more defensive stability from changing the keeper. Given will play against Ipswich and Bradford anyway. MMFy
Take Guzan out of the team now and you might as well sell him. He confidence would be shot to shit. He is still a better goalkeeper than Shay Given, and is also 8 years younger. Stick with Guzan.
Zatman
he stopped us conceding 20 in last 2 games and somebody want him dropped. FFS
CI
So you want our player of the season dropped then? My point was, Guzans confidence may be at a low ebb after the last 2 games. It may have been worth taking him out of the firing line for a game or two to give him some respite.
GarethRDR
As this thread has evidenced, he's not really in the firing line though. Besides, if Guzan was the kind of 'keeper who needed to be dropped to spare his confidence after a few drubbings, he wouldn't be the kind of 'keeper worth playing in the first place. If we had a 'keeper that was arguably as good behind him then yeah maybe. The last thing we need is a replacement who can't command his defence and box. HalfTimePost
All that needs to be said is: Guzan let 12 goals in the last two games. And didn't put a single foot wrong throughout. Given looked awful at Norwich, no confidence, lack of practice, Guzan made some fantastic saves vs Chelsea and Spurs, it's the defence that needs to be sorted. abdulaziz1
Hello .. He has player of the season wrapped up. It shows how piss poor of a team we actually are. It's quite surprising as well considering I'm constantly told things are so much better this year. If we stayed with the same players .. and same manager .. and same policy .. We would have been much worse .. This is the only way of improvement ! Hope we could win today .. and get three points so we could have a breath !
PB
Brad made a bad mistake for Bale's first goal, but otherwise he has been huge. He needs more protection mind, or we might find his confidence getting shot. We cant expect to keep on making 10 saves a half. But Given? No thanks Edited December 29, 2012 by PB
AVFCforever1991
Brad made a bad mistake for Bale's first goal Don't think he was, there was no chance he would of got the ball before Bale.

Gentingthereslowly
im not advocating the dropping of brad at all but would be great if anyone whose going to the game today could watch brad in detail and see his relationship with the back 4/5 and how well he organises them given how inexpierienced they are. Its all well and good him stopping pens and making saves but if we could be organised better to stop leaving the opposition to have shots this is something we must consider. Shay doesnt command his box so to speak but having seen him live for Ireland on numerous occasions with very young defenders, he does organise them very well. Any thoughts??
