Post update

Liverpool 0-0 Fulham

26, 46, 47, 76 - the shirt numbers of Liverpool's back four

Liverpool apologist behaviour on the BBC live text. ‘A Liverpool XI’ makes it sound like a **** exhibition match.

There’s absolutely no reason for their younger players to have such absurdly high numbers by the way, it’s not like theyre 7th choice. The numbers 2, 16, 18 and 22 + loads of 20s and 30s numbers aren’t taken.

Garth Crooks doesn't know who a defender is if he didn't score.

He probably rates that Tavernier from Rangers as the best defender in the world with his 16 goals this season

Noticed again tonight, Sky commentators praising Hassenhuttl and Southampton for having “survived a crushing 9-0 when lesser men would have folded” and claiming “5-2 really doesn’t reflect the game and how brave Southampton have been”. It’s really strange why some teams and managers get given a completely different narrative by the media.

the media campaign to give Lampard some credit for Tuchels work is already beginning. Glen Johnson said Lampard could have done just as well if he was given time

Ashley Cole has been banging his drum also.

The reality is the longer Tuchel is in the job, the shitter Lampard is looking. It's a bit embarrassing for him to be honest

Newcastle v Aston Villa (20:00 GMT)

Aston Villa are still missing Jack Grealish but Newcastle are worse off injury-wise, and are going to be without Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron until the start of April, after the international break.

Both of these sides drew last time out, Villa against Wolves and Newcastle at West Brom - which was not exactly a thriller.

I have a feeling this game will be cagey too. The Magpies need the points more, but I think they will still focus on making themselves difficult to beat rather than going all-out for a win.

Lawro's prediction: 1-1

Frank's prediction: 0-2

And Marcel Bielsa.

It was quite clear that a competent manager could have this team mounting a serious title challenge. Didn't expect them to fire Lampard and then hire one such manager that quickly though. He's being shown up before the season in the same season

To be fair, there's a whole 7 hours and one goalless draw with Leeds between these two articles . . .
