Popular Post VillanousOne Posted July 23, 2014 Popular Post Share Posted July 23, 2014 The press have three facts to play with 1) Villa are or at least perceived to be in crisis due to the sale/no sale of the club which in turn means we have no budget or ability to renew contracts (not necessarily true obviously) 2) Vlaar had a good world cup 3) Vlaar is in his final year expect the gutter press to put those 3 facts in the random horse shite story generator and spit out links to any club who might want a defender or have a player that we were vaguely interested in once. we've had Manure, QPR, Southampton now Spurs. It depends who the players would be that come in as it's written as if it could be anyone. If we could line up another defender before we made the move, I would be for it. I'm getting flashbacks of a certain team coming in for Benteke, us all grabbing the pitchforks and then him having a bang average season (and people wondering whether we should have cashed in after all!!). I hope the same doesn't happen with Ron. Benteke was fantastic when he was actually fit. I certainly don't think we should've cashed in. As for this suggestion Holtby would be good but Dawson is slow and more injury prone than Vlaar.Both of decent wages too so no chance of it happening Also if its in the mirror and not by Nursey then is generally going to be not true. He would be one of our best defenders and probably isn't that far behind Vlaar. You don't play so many games for Man U if you're the worst defender in the league.
