It's pretty messed up that the woman is always the one that wants but the man is the one who has to ask.

In all acts of submission, punishment and psychological domination, the victim always has to ask to be punished and then thank the person in the dominant role, afterwards.

The man proposing on his knees is engaged in an exact same ritual.

I've always found the woman's 'need' to get married utterly pathetic. Marriage always has, and always will be a retarded idea.

You really do spout some drivel.

The whole idea of an engagement does seem like a very odd anachronism these days.

The idea of an engagement ring for ordinary people is a post-war phenomenon and was started as a marketing gimmick by De Beers (the diamond cartel).

Not satisfied by this, De Beers then invented the eternity ring in the 1960s, which started a whole new excuse for women to co-opt a chunk of family finances for themselves.

Feminists tend to say that such trinkets reduce women to the status of chattels and mark women as the property of a man.
