I own and love this. Its the one album that gets a very negative reaction from my wife. She despises it, and she is married to me, with my taste.

Pop Punk Wife...

This may have the beginings of a chart hit, I shall give you 5% of the royalties for inspiration

Yeah, that's on rotation in our house (and car). The missus and I are big Israel Nash fans, seen him live twice.

Quite apart from the snigger-inducing name, this has a good reputation. I found it a bit of a let-down, tbh.

Yeah it’s a long time since I played it and I can imagine it’ll be a long time before it gets another spin.

It was ok, but I’d have expected more from a 1969 album, others were way ahead of this by then. The Creation issued an album 2 or 3 years earlier that sounds more advanced in a similar genre.

Back in the box, back out the garage.

I’ve put Heavy Rain on now, and it’s a league above.

Yes, I prefer Heavy Rain to the original too because AMS really does his thing on that, whereas the original is a more straight production but I still think Rainford is great. House of Angels, Autobiography of The Upsetter, African Starship. all great tracks. But you are right that Makumba Rock is the showstealer

Had this on the car again for the last week or so. Hadn’t listened to it for about 8 years. Not his most memorable or famous stuff but going through it and for me there isn’t a dud on it. Great album.

If you like that, you'll probably like this:

Not so much what I’m listening to but I’m currently away from home so have tasked my nearly 15yr old lad to pick one of my cds to listen to each day.

so far, he’s picked (and says he really liked) Pearl Jam - Vitalogy, Weezer - (blue unnamed album) and Monster Magnet - Dopes To Infinity.

meanwhile, I’ve mostly been playing Courting - Grand National EP, Viagra Boys - Welfare Jazz, Do Nothing - Glueland EP and Spirit Of The Beehive - Entertainment, Death.

I’ve got the new Squid album on pre order too, which should be out in the next few weeks.

Tour of record shops at the weekend. I have some money saved up for this and the following weekend I'll be over three weeks into having the vaccine so I'm returning to working the road for my pocket money.

I have no idea what I'm going to buy this weekend but it'll be a mixed bag of new and 2nd hand as I have a few 2nd hand shops I've never been in before on my list of shops

Very cheeky Rob!!! It just demonstrates  I’ve got my finger on the pulse and down with the youth still... however unfortunately I look far far from it 🤣

Today the boy has gone for Live - Throwing Copper (another cracking choice from yesteryear!)

The education/conditioning is going well 😁

I saw Billy Bragg at Ilkley Town Hall (yes, I am aware just how middle class this statement is) and I think him playing Tank Park Salute was perhaps one of the best moments at a gig I've ever had. It truly is just a beautiful song,  one of my favourites. I know it's not off this album but he deserves the status of England's Woody Guthrie, which he would no doubt love.

Tank Park Salute is one of those songs that just captures emotion perfectly. He does a version of The Dolphins, the Fred Neil song and its the same with that. I love Tank Park Salute. The Saturday Boy on BUWBB was the song that hooked me with Billy Bragg, its lyrically perfect and it was definitely the song that I could empathise with most but that said I think pretty much every album was perfect up to Mermaid Avenue.

For clarity, I am not listening to Motley Crue.

Oh help me Mrs Medlicott, I don’t know what to do

I’ve only got three bullets, and there’s four of Motley Crue
