Alan Hutton

Both Lichaj and Lowton will get an equal chance in my opinion.

The back four will be experimental until January I think. We'll have to buckle our seat belts for a wild and bumpy ride as Prof. Lambert musters up various concoctions.

Taken from this mornings Daily Mail - We can only hope!

Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton is in talks over a move to Stoke City.

The Scotland international is being moved out of Villa after Paul Lambert spent £3million on Matthew Lowton.

Hutton was signed 12 months ago from Tottenham by Alex McLeish for £4m but has found it difficult to win over Villa supporters following his switch from north London.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis used a number of players to cover the right-back spot at the Britannia Stadium last season with Robert Huth and Jonathan Woodgate deployed out of position.

Villa though are facing another significant loss on the player with the fee expected to reach no more than £2m.

Lambert was less than keen to take a financial hit on James Collins. Villa were trying to negotiate more than the £2.5m West Ham wanted to pay for the Wales international. However, Collins was due to have a medical ahead of finalising talks.

West Ham have failed in a bid to sign Porto's Abdoulaye Ba as the Portuguese refused to let him go out on loan. Their other target, Ivan Ramis of Real Mallorca, is expected to finalise his switch to Wigan this week as revealed in Sportsmail.

Indeed we will TrentVilla. Actually the more you think about it, Hutton's clogging style of play will fit right in with the Tony Pulis system. Hutton will certainly do better at Stoke than Woodgate did. Luckily for Woodgate he may now be back at Boro so he won't have to train alongside Hutton if indeed Hutton signs for Stoke and risk even further injury.
