  1. Doing some simplistic detective work and looking through the training pictures on the villa site today the noticeable absentees are; Grealish, Gill, Gabby, Westwood, Veretout and Sanchez. Admittedly they may have been out of camera shot but you'd tend to expect photos of a couple of these at least. That would explain why TS didn't want to name names, I hope I'm wrong but if we have no Gill or Grealish then Sunderland can park the bus and get a point as we may have trouble unlocking them without these players. The back 5 are all pictured along with Gana, Sinclair, Kozack and Gestede
  2. Being at last nights game I would seriously consider partnering Sanchez at the back with Richards. I've nothing against Clarke but watching Sanchez last night he gave a master class in how to defend with your head and was clam playing the ball out with his feet. As far as I could see he only misplaced 1 defensive header, apart from that every ball was played out from any danger with no hint of panic. If he has no reaction to playing 120 minutes then for me I'd have in the back line to allow a more offensive line-up in front. If Adama doesn't recover I'd like to see: ----------------------Guzan----------------------- Bacuna -- Ricahrds -- Sanchez -- Amavi --------------------Westwood--------------------- ------------------Gana--Veretout----------------- --------Grealish-------------------Sinclair-------- -----------------------Gestede--------------------- If he is fit then: ----------------------Guzan----------------------- Bacuna -- Ricahrds -- Sanchez -- Amavi --------------------Westwood--------------------- ------------------Gana--Sinclair------------------ --------Adama------------------Grealish--------- -----------------------Gestede---------------------
  3. I believe Gill, Adebayor and Ayew wont be 100% match fit and therefore will only be in contention for the bench. TS has also stated he sees Gueye as playing a more advanced attacking role, so with the imminent arrival of Veretout I can see Gueye moving forward, at least until Gill is back up to speed. Guzan is still no.1 but he's still not back from the Gold Cup & having a Summer break. With KO only a week away so I expect him to be given a little before being back in the team. .......................................................Bunn.............................................. 4. Kozak, Ayew, Ade & Gestede - no room at the inn for Gabby! Looks like he needs to step up or move on.
  5. Hope somebody informs Valencia about this
  6. It will be a real welcome to the Premier League for our new boys... Bournemouth away in front of 16.5K supporters followed by their home bow at VP in front of 43K and only Man Utd coming to town... 6 points from 6 please....
  7. Can't see him going to Sevilla, they're looking at having to offload Negredo in order to pay City £10m this season and then the 2nd £10m next season as part of the loan deal that was agreed, not to mention the debts the club has. I think it's safe to cross them off Praet destination list. Regards Southampton the French press are saying Veretout was/is their main target but it's agreed he's heading to us for a medical and Southampton along with Bournemouth have lost out. OK that may mean Southampton will focus on Praet but if TS can convince Gueye and Veretout (according to the press) to snub the south coast and join the Villa revolution, I'm confident if we're in for this guy he'll be convinced to join us up in Brum
  8. And the rest We could have a whole new defence to look at A whole new midfield to look at Two new strikers to look at In fact when was the last time a team had all ten outfielders making debuts? -------------------Guzan Crespo-----Richards-----New CB-------Amavi ---------Veretout----------Gueye--------Newbie ----------------------Praet ---------------Ade-------------Ayew Only need another two or three to make this a reality With TS being in the South of Spain the other day could your midfield Newbie be Darder? After all Malaga is on the South Coast
  9. I'm hoping for Cambiasso, Praet & then a further 1 forward perm and Ade on loan if there's any funds remaining. I half expect a young (sub21) forward with huge amounts of raw talent & potential that needs polishing in the circa £10-15€ bracket.
  10. Personally I think that VP should always remain so. I'm more in favour of dual shirt sponsorship along the lines of Spurs Home/Away then also sell the rights to our training wear as Man Utd have done with DHL. Also agree BMH can go for the right $. This may increase the overall revenue but again the problem the Villa have is we're not in Europe so we'd be unable to command enough revenue to make a difference unfortunately. Still if does even increase revenue over our current levels it's a route I'm sure the club will be/are looking at. Also happy for all stands except the Holte being sponsored.
  11. This has just surfaced on HITC http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/07/23/anderlecht-set-asking-price-for-reported-everton-aston-villa-tar/page/1/
  12. L'Equipe this morning are running their main Sports page with the story we're in talks with Anthony Martial from Monaco. Young and only 19 so the potential we could see him in supplemented with the addition of Adebayor until he finds his stride? http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Article/Martial-priorite-de-villa/53760 I can't pull the rest of the story but SW are running an extended version http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/aston-villa-set-to-beat-tottenham-to-striker-will-pay-more-talks-
  13. Things really are getting silly now... Slow Sports news day all round http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/manchester-united-transfer-news-christian-benteke-favourites-tweet-linking-him-with-move-to-old-trafford-10390683.html
  14. Funny I dont think that at all This sounds like good news to me, along with someone saying Genk have confirmed Benteke isn't in the squad tomorrow.

Kendrick has released his latest report. Lets hope we pull them both off (also posted on the Benteke thread) http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/aston-villa-fc/aston-villa-news/2012/08/28/aston-villa-to-step-up-chase-of-christian-benteke-and-joe-bennett-on-wednesday-97319-31716880/

  19. Some clarity from PJ on Creswell taken from the Ipswich Star http://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/transfer_latest_paul_jewell_not_aware_of_any_fresh_aston_villa_interest_in_aaron_cresswell_1_1493180
  20. A slight glimmer of hope I suppose http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11701/8014084/Lambert-open-to-late-spending
  21. Not exactly Villa related but it sees MON is looking at fair number of players some people would like down VP: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2191227/Sunderland-hoping-pip-Liverpool-Fulhams-Clint-Dempsey.html
  22. Looks like AJ will be off to Everton if this is the be believed http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2188053/Everton-given-refusal-Adam-Johnson.html
  23. Manchester Evening news are saying City are pushing hard to sign Agger and Scott Sinclair. Surley if they got these City will be looking to move some players on? Obviously it's clutching at straws but if SS moves surly that would be the final nail in AJ's coffin?
  24. Can't argue with that, well apart from under GH we did finish 9th in the end Just shows there's still plenty of work to be done but I do like: Let's hope we get a forward, left back in before West Ham
