lexicon
Stepped up and clearly showed that he wants to get his place in the team back - nice on Clarky!
Risso
I've been critical of him, but to be fair he was good when he came on. Not like Vlaar who was poor from start to finish.
heid3ster
Yup, I've been harsh on Clark but he was our best defender by a long way today. Keep it up, son.
smetrov
IMO that his role - Cover - the Odd game. Its when he plays 20 games on the bounce that the problems start. He could be very valuable to us in that role.

Isa
I have to hold my hands up and admit I wrote him off as a CB and believed his only shot of a future with us lay in midfield but his showing yesterday has given me a glimmer of hope that he can do 'a Fabian Delph' and perhaps turn it around. Condimentalist
Just one performance but a good one. Stepped up today and did his job well. I'd be nervous about him at Chelsea though, especially if Lukaku starts.
Dodgyknees
Deserves praise, much better from Clark.
The Fun Factory
Did well when he came on yesterday.Personally I would have him over Baker. Better on the ball than braveheart- and doesnt get injured every other game. Seems a confidence player. I hope he has a future at the club. blandy Posted August 18, 2013 Moderator Share Posted August 18, 2013 I logged on to this thread to say exactly what's been said above. He didn't put a foot wrong yesterday. He was excellent. Maybe the rest and the desire to get his place back has been just what he needed. I hope so.
daggy_333
Maybe he's finally looked at things and realised if he doesn't up his game, that he's going to end up as our fourth choice centre back?
ozvillafan Posted August 18, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted August 18, 2013 More positionally solid than Vlaar. Didn't dwell on the ball waiting to make a decision either - as has been the case in the past. Some very simple and effective stuff, deserves his place against Chelsea on that performance. AVFCforever1991
Much better, hopefully he has cut out the silly mistakes and can push on now.
AVTuco Posted August 18, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted August 18, 2013 If we don't get help from outside, I think Okore - Clark pairing should be given a chance. Vlaar seems to be the weak link.
Big_John_10
Like others have said hopefully Baker going ahead of him and Okore signing has shown him he needs to step up.
Rovers13
I haven't really seen it suggested or anything, but does anyone think Clark changed the game? About the time he came on was when Villa started to get into the match andhave a bit more of the ball. With Baker in in the first 15 or so minutes every time the ball was in the left side of defense the ball would go to Delph who would go back to Baker who go back to Guzan and then they'd lose possession from a long. Clark was much more confident in posession and after he came on he would keep it on the ground and go forward, putting guys like Delph in a position where they could turn and forward and keep posession for a bit Just a though, I really thought Clark was that good so to think he changed the game isn't that far fetched. Texas_Mike
He will get to start with Vlaar against Chelsea and a lot of questions will be answered.... I don't expect a clean sheet but let us see how any goals conceded are defended. For now he can bask in the glory of a job well done against Arsenal. Tomaszk
He was good. I've no doubts this was because he wasn't up against a really physical centre forward and we were playing Arsenal not West Ham. Once things go airborne and rough, Clark really struggles and it affects the rest of his game.
guyavfc
This is what competition for places does, players have to perform at their very best, it keeps them on their toes.
