The traditional big teams are at their weakest, bar City of course. With some consistent form, we can catch 1 or 2 of them off guard. We should already be looking to leapfrog Spurs and Arsenal as it is. But if Liverpool hit a rough patch again, or something goes tits up with Chelsea (I fear they'll be very good under Tuchel though), we're going to be right there along with Leicester to take advantage I imagine. But a new contract isn't a major sign of anything, it just means we won't lose him for a ridiculous fee, which, even if he wanted to leave, would be the last thing he wanted to happen to his boyhood club. I just think he's such a big football fan that he'll be want to be playing in these huge games sooner rather than later in his career. Or such a huge football fan…or such a huge Villa fan he’d want to try and get Villa to those heights, it’s what we all dream about as kids and he’s living that dream. Our dream isn’t in a Man City shirt it’s doing it in a Villa shirt.

Popular Post JoshVilla
This is what really frustrates me. As soon as another Premier League team tries to build some sustained success, tries to break into the top 4 and you know, upset the status quo, just like clockwork a club like City comes in and takes the top players away. It'd be such a breath of fresh air if both Jack and the owners tell City to do one. It's about time we broke away from the boring monotony of the same few teams fighting for the same few spots season after season. It really does emphasise just how refreshing it was to see Leicester do what they did...

Jack started 24 games, and we got 42 points Points per game when Jack started :1.75 In the 14 games he didn’t start we got 13 points 38x1.75= 66.5 Which would’ve put us above leicester in 5th and rounding up joint with chelsea in 4th we played some proper shit teams in the time that he missed, and probably would have done even better. So Yh, 75% chance I reckon.
foreveryoung
Grealish 100 million+, Sancho 80 million, Bellingham 70 million. But not really experienced enough for this tournament. Southgate's on crack!!

Southgate will rightly conclude his selection was too adventurous and attacking. Kane may be a good striker but an elite pressing team would play Eric Dier as the 9. Popular Post icouldtelltheworld
A lot of people on this thread seem to have a good idea of what Jack thinks and how he feels (some optimistic, some pessimistic). With respect, the only person who knows what Jack wants or needs is himself. I don't think he's off this summer, but nor do I think he will be here forever. The lad has dragged this club back into the big time, at times singlehandedly. He's going to the very top, and when he does go he will go with my blessing. If I was a betting man, I'd say he gives us one more season and goes to a Citeh or similar type club next year. Its not about matching ambitions IMO, this kid is special - one of the most naturally talented players on the planet. He's the best I've ever seen at the Villa, and my old man (who turned 67 this week and has seen us win the lot) agrees. He deserves to play at the very highest level and improves any side on the planet. We're on an upward trajectory, but we're a long way from the elite. Jack loves the Villa, he doesn't need to stay this summer to prove that. During one of the lowest points in this clubs history, one man has carried the weight of expectation on his shoulders and dragged us back to where we should be. He could have agitated for a move at several points. I hope he doesn't leave, but if he does we finally have people in place who will reinvest the money wisely. We no longer need Jack to survive in the PL - if he sticks around for one more season I reckon we can sell him and challenge for Europe without him too. Whatever happens, this kid has helped me to fall back in love with football and played a huge part in making it fun to follow the Villa again. There are bigger things in life than football - let's not get too caught up on what might/might not happen and just enjoy that were finally in a good place again, no matter what happens next Edited June 25, 2021 by icouldtelltheworld
