bannedfromHandV
Thing is, what do England expect of Leach, when was the last time he even played for England, feels like a long time ago, then he’s thrown in at the deep end in the ashes. Its been farcical selection from England for too long now.
WhatAboutTheFinish
How bad must Burns' throwing arm be for him to be an automatic at slip, even though he seems to put down at least one chance per innings?
PaulC
England have had a problem filling Swann's shoes. Moeen filled the role admirably but its a problem area for England just like the top order.

Eidolon
Neither Starc nor Hameed deserved that IMO
Rodders
good to see some fight here, halting a bit of aussie momentum before the next test at least. Keep them bowling as long as possible, and focus on the little wins, bat out the day, bat to lunch tomorrow, pass the innings defeat mark etc.
sheepyvillian
I'm scared to go to sleep, lest I should wake up and find out we've been bowled out, as is usually the way.
Rodders
well that is an excellent response. Fair play England, showed plenty of fight. Interesting day tomorrow. Australia still clear favourites, but if these two can bed in tomorrow morning, the prospect of weary bowlers still to face Pope, Stokes and Buttler in the middle order could make for some fun tomorrow. But for now, job done, batted through, got that big partnership and confidence for two of our batsmen. And looks like Burns got a really good ball. Hameed's was soft, but that aside, good stuff.
OutByEaster? Posted December 10, 2021 Moderator Share Posted December 10, 2021 I guess the target should be to get the game into the fifth day - if we can do that, then we'll have offered up some decent resistance.

Soon as the two current batsmen are out you just know we will collapse like a pack of cards when @blandyfarts. 1 1

OutByEaster? Posted December 10, 2021 Moderator Share Posted December 10, 2021 So, two batsmen over 80, what do you reckon, two centuries, one, or none?
bannedfromHandV
Well hopefully two centuries, need to have these two still there for the new ball in 10 overs time and then aim to get to lunch, I do worry there’s a collapse to follow if we lose one of these two early on. sidcow Posted December 10, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted December 10, 2021 The worst. At least needed them to get to the new ball. Need some vintage Stokes now to hang about with Root but he's rather an unknown quantity right now. Could hold it together for 100 or could be gone in a minute.
