PaulC
Yes Buttler is a useless keeper. Loose more than you gain sometimes picking a keeper for his batting and Im not even sure Buttler is that good a test batsman either
sharkyvilla
I don't see any logic in picking 5 right arm, mid-80s seam bowlers. No variety whatsoever. England will lose by an innings.
OutByEaster? Posted December 16, 2021 Moderator Share Posted December 16, 2021 England total runs scored in this series: 444 Warner and Labuschagne total runs scored in this series: 358 Labuschagne needs another 86 runs tomorrow to put those two ahead. It's not beyond him.

Rodders
I can't criticise dropping Leach. I think he'd have been smacked all over the place. Problem is all our bowlers gave fitness issues. Robinson's is more of a general fitness in not maintaining the pace so stamina but Woods ankle and back, Woakes' knee and then Jimmy and broad both have had their fitness issues this year so balancing that attack is perfectly understandable but it does look like we've got it the wrong way round on this showing. We don't have any other contenders being unfairly overlooked I don't think? The only other option is Bess as a spinner. But for me, i can't blame them for choosing the bowlers. But our fielding and keeping and the batting is the problem. We will be bowled out for under 200 again when they declare after tea tomorrow. OutByEaster? Posted December 17, 2021 Moderator Share Posted December 17, 2021 That Australian 1st innings would have been enough to win the first test. Ultimately, that Aussie 2,3,4 in their batting line up is simply too good for what we have, those three have pretty much won the series already. Rodders
Smith Warner and Labuschane's 291 will be enough for an innings victory here tbf. Would be surprised if we escaped with fewer than 3 or 4 wickets by close of play
Rodders
and speak of the devil. Burn's contribution to the series continues to be monumentally pathetic.

WhatAboutTheFinish
England still need to be batting going in to day 4 to have any chance of salvaging something from this test. Just not going to happen is it.
