The thing I've seen him in is Kim's Convenience, which is, uh, quite different (I assume, I will never watch a Marvel movie, but I have seen the trailer).

You should, I've heard they're not bad.

I have absolutely no interest, and as I get older and crabbier, I have no intention of wasting time watching things I'm not interested in. It's not just things with superheroes either; saw a film with an interesting cast advertised earlier. Oh what's that, 'the female John Wick?' No I'd rather do literally anything else.

Common problem, when you watch too much pornography you only ever want to watch pornography at the expense of all other formats. How about some superhero porn just to ease you back into the mainstream? The  Flesh Gordon trilogy is a good starting point

There was a third? Only ever saw the first one and the sequel (Cosmic Cheerleaders) which I actually watched at AMC (when it was called that) with an ex girlfriend of mine. She thought it was great fun 😄

It's a good joke, but IMHO just by acknowledging that humans actually both have genitals and desires to do things with those genitals, any porn is more relevant to the world as it actually is than any superhero movie.

If I was a betting man and I am, I'd wager you went to Eton and then on to Oxford.

The fella in the second one really unnerved me. Never seen him in anything else before or after

I didn't actually watch it, but the thing that made me laugh about that one was the director filming it in black and white like some sort of arthouse project.

Histoire de Marie et Julien - I thought it was good, has a sorty fantasy, mystery, subtle supernatural feel to it, which is what I associate with the best Rivette films.

Bacurau - I thought it was good and entertaining, I don't know if many peope have watched it, but seems to me one that a lot of people would like as long as they don't mind subtitles.

The Mortal Storm - American Anti Nazi film made during World War 2, I thought it was really good, enjoyed it, and am surprised it's not more well known.

Also watched two shorter films, The lonely 19:00 by Sion Sono, which was an interesting enough way to pass half an hour, and A Walk Through H: The Reincarnation of an Ornithologist by Peter Greenway, which was more of an experiemental film, 'an anonymous narrator outlines a bizarre journey taken through "H", aided by a series of extraordinary maps, and his previous dealings with the mysterious Tulse Luper and the keeper of the bird house at the Amsterdam Zoo' - I haven't read the book but it made me think of - Invsible Cities.

Spotted a cracking classic film doing the rounds on the open seas today for those have never seen it, I highly recommend  ...

Night and the City 1950

A small-time grifter and nightclub tout takes advantage of some fortuitous circumstances and tries to become a big-time player as a wrestling promoter. An outstanding performance from Richard Widmark, his greatest IMO and one of my all time favourites.

I'd be very interested on your opinion of A Clockwork Orange if you've never seen it before.

Surprised you haven't seen A Clockwork Orange before - For me it's a masterpiece and still stands up well today so it'll be interesting to see what you think of it.

I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Not perfect, I think some of the gratuitous nudity doesn't really feel right in today's climate, but it was of a time.

But yeah I thought it was really excellent. Completely mental and I can see why it was banned and/or censored so much. But overall a superb film

Yet ironically it was banned then but able to be shown now.

Definitely due a re-watch myself I reckon.
