So thanks to Randy and everyone for making it possible. I can remember a few scraped draws up there that we were a bit lucky with. I have been walking around with a big "Sh.t eating grin" on my face for the past day...Mrs "K" has about had it with me. This was a "Villa Family" win! The Team, the Manager and Coaches, the Villa Park folks and the FANS!!! Believe me, I could hear the noise here in the US!!!! Well done to the Fans. This has completely made my xmas. I'm 32 and have witnessed so many nearly wins, scraped draws and hammerings. To finally do them in their own yard feels great. Another post earlier on said this result was symbolic. I totally agree. Along with everything else that has changed for the better in the last few years this result for me shows how far we have come. Martin mentioned when he joined that his dream was to make us champions of europe again.. I thinks his words were "why not".. In an age when the media and fans demand instant success we are making slow and steady progress and this result just shows it. First off, it was already on the telly. Secondly, as you indicated, it was between American owners. Third, it was a great game to view and my sense is that as the game moved on, more people who like football were calling their friends. My son is a big Villa Fan and a very good player himself...he taped the game and has watched it twice....SAME result no matter how many times you watch it. Who's idea was it to put an daily update on the number of tickets sold for the away semi final? I think its a brilliant idea and certainly relaxes me a little bit more about getting a ticket. When a good game is on the telly, it will get some viewers. There is absolutely no doubt that the World Cup will be watched in numbers here. It won't be like England but there will be a big audience, 2. At this time, we only have 33K projected to come to the Stoke game....and Stoke appears to be bringing their full allocation. Then again I'm shocked that it's a Category A game, one of the worst sides if not the worst away team to come to VP last year, noone really classes it as a local derby just us playing a poor team, so not sure with the high prices! We've had some cracking results recently (hopefuly tonight too), it'a local derby and we're currently 4th. I know there is a recession, but we should be selling out most home games, but for some reason we're not - are attendances going to affect Randy's plans for Villa Park, General? I was born in 82 so obviously missed the euro cup win. To read such talk about us in the papers, to see the admiration for us that many fans of other clubs have for us, the players that so many clubs would want (and yet i feel confident we wont lose them regardless of who comes in for them) and all the amazing work behind the scenes, the statue, Acorns etc... I know there was some criticism from many fans recently. I hope you never take any negative comment you see here or elsewhere too seriously because most Villa fans realise how much they owe Randy, and MON... MON is his own man, a maverick if you will......there can be no doubts now that the guy has a long term vision for the team that is coming together brilliantly... Im not really too fussed if we get top 4 or not this season.....because for the first time ever, i feel we will get there, sooner or later.... Overjoyed at the moment. That's 5 wins and 2 draws from the last seven games and the lads are looking a tough nut to crack at the moment. I remember saying that I felt we hadn't replaced Gareth Barry earlier in the season. You said that you felt we wouldn't miss him and you were right. The positioning of Milner in the centre has proved to be a revelation for us. The one thing all Villa fans felt we needed was a goalscoring centre midfielder and now Jimmy is playing in the centre we have one. Three goals and three assists from the four games he has played there is just awesome! Here's a piece of advice for the remainder of the season General, get some more staff in the ticket office because I think you're going to need them!
