  1. "Villa have Let Us Down Again".......... My vote for worst post of the year. Merry Xmas to you all, role on 2010 it's gonna be our year. UTV
  2. Hi General, A big Thankyou to you, Randy, Martin, The players who played their hearts out, the fans who travelled and sang their hearts out and everyone connected with my club.. This has completely made my xmas. I'm 32 and have witnessed so many nearly wins, scraped draws and hammerings. To finally do them in their own yard feels great. Another post earlier on said this result was symbolic. I totally agree. Along with everything else that has changed for the better in the last few years this result for me shows how far we have come. Martin mentioned when he joined that his dream was to make us champions of europe again.. I thinks his words were "why not".. In an age when the media and fans demand instant success we are making slow and steady progress and this result just shows it. Thanks again and Merry Xmas
  3. That happened to me and my mates against Pompey. We got kicked out by about 30 stewards and coppers for the crime of standing up on a back row in the lower Witton Lane, rebels eh!? No wonder the atmosphere is shit. Obviously we don't know the circumstances, but I hope the stewards are not being heavy-handed. Nothing spoils the enjoyment of something more than being at the mercy of officious busybodies, whether they're poorly-recruited nightclub bouncers, poorly-recruited policemen or poorly-recruited match stewards. I know that if I were kicked out of the stadium for anything but actual antisocial behaviour, it would leave a very bad taste, and I probably wouldn't be back for quite a while. Why should people face a scolding when they pay to watch the team they support? I stress that I don't know anything about the circumstances mentioned in these posts, but clearly people are feeling aggrieved. Seeing as the stewards are the public face of the club on matchdays, I hope Aston Villa are doing everything they can to employ stewards who try to send everyone home happy (rather than just throw their own weight around). I would just like to echo these concerns about the stewarding at Villa Park recently, it appears the aim of some is to make an example out of anyone, never seems to be the REAL troublemakers though Totally agree with the comment about stewards ignoring the real issues. They don't want the hassle it's easier to chuck someone out for standing up. I can recall half a dozen "incidents" that have been ignored in the lower holte in the last 2 seasons. As for standing, why is it so outlawed at villa park. When I buy tickets for the NIA or NEC to watch a gig there is a notice on the ticket stating that people may stand around you. What's the difference?
  4. Hi General, I can understand MON's reason's behind his squad selection for Moscow. I guess we have just become a victim of the modern game. Winning things no longer seems to be top of the agenda. We're not the first to take this approah, and we won't be the last. On a personal note though I feel a little bit short changed for the support I have given to every home game in the Eufa Cup campaign so far. The great nights that we all experienced against Ajax and last week against Moscow somehow seem to have lost some of their glory..Not sure why but not going for it in Moscow just makes them feel a little worthless now. On another note I was just wondering how Freddie Bouma is feeling after loosing near enough a whole season though injury sustained in a game trying to qualify for a competition we would loose interest in once we got to the knock out stages. I think the debate will run and run on this one..And it's true what they say "you can keep some of the people happy some of the time...but you can't keep all of the people happy all the time" I'll still be back in the Holte next season...But in all honesty a little dissillusioned about what I will want out of the season. All the best and keep up the awesome job you are doing for my club.
  5. I took my 6 yr old Nephew to the AJAX game. He was all destined to become an blue nose like his Dad but the Ajax game and today's open training session seems to have done the job, there is only one way for him now. My parents also took my daughter to the training session today, she is only 3 and form all accounts had a great time with her cousin. She will be on the Holte with me in a few years. Would love to have made it myself today but could not get out of work. Well done to all involved arranging what sounded like a great day. 3 pts tomorrow will finish off a great week.

    Poppycock

A great article... Shame the British press can't put out such articles. I have always hated the british press and felt I was doing my intellect a disservice by reading the tabloid trash. But like so many I give into the titilation it serves up. Following sundays "poppy" article the NOTW is now banned from my house.
  7. Just wanted to offer up some feedback on the stewards from yesterdays game against Sunderland. A fight broke out between several people in the middle of the lower holte and 5 Rows from the back. This incident lasted for the best part of 10 mins and not one single steward came to attend. A lot of people got involved trying to diffuse the situation which could have escalated. It is very annoying when stewards are very forward in combating people smoking or standing up, yet when a serious situation occurs it is ignored.
