Shambles of a performance and I’m sorry to say Unai was poor in his tactics and set up yet again.

Really not looking forward to Sunday. Another home loss and there will be a lot of boos at the end.

Very concerning the lack of intensity and urgency. We look very flat and players looking like there all over the shop. The whole back 4 is leaking goals. Moreno is a liability and so is Cash. Carlos and Lengut that partnership I don't have confidence in. The midfield is non existent.

They were excellent. Take your Villa goggles off. Wanted it more, kept possession, played quickly, made incisive passes and took their chances. We did none of that. Only one team in it.

Even ITV saying we were flat, no urgency, no energy. There not wrong!

It's easy to look good with us playing like that.

We’re now playing our 4th and 5th choice centre backs. Any team would struggle but that won’t be mentioned by anyone.

Hoping Pau is back by the weekend because Lenglet is painful to watch!!!

Pretty much carbon copy of Newcastle. We absolutely have to respond against Man Utd.

Furious to be out of the cup so softly. Nothing good in any department of the pitch and they all seemed to feed off each other's apathy and errors. Diaby Motm for a goal that makes the scoreline slightly more respectable.

Ref definitely needs a new watch. If we'd somehow snuck a 2nd from that corner to go 2-3 ~91 mins, we should have had at least 10 more mins to get a miracle. how can give 4 mins when there was 5 mins+ of subs in just the last 10 mins let alone all the other stops including him booking their GK for timewasting. like, did he have a lobotomy and miss all that?

That was a **** awful performance. Not one player on the Villa team gave anywhere near 100%.

4 subs should have been made at half time rather than two in the 80th minute. Really poor by the manager.

Play that way against Man U and Villa will concede double what they did tonight!

Lack of investment in any real quality in the Jan window is already starting to show.

Typical that Chelsea decide to turn up for the first time in months against us.

Yes, we were poor, but it's so **** typical that teams that have been crap raise their game against us.

Glad to be out to be honest,  we were never going to win it, and we could do without playing our first choice 11 twice a week.

Disappointed we didn't make changes earlier on. Perfect opportunity to rest some of the players that clearly didn't want to be out there and those that need a break, and give Diaby, Zaniolo, Iroegbunam, Ramsey and even one of the youth players chance to show themselves worthy of a place.

Only positive is no injuries amd we usually get a reaction after a shit performance.

Their 3rd was from a free kick, given despite no foul. And the overtime of 4 minutes was at least 6 minutes short. OK, Villa did not play well, but those things are all that Klopp or Pep or Ten Haag would mention, if it were their teams.

Yeah 2-1 down with 10 to play would have been fun.

Lots of tripe in the match thread about Emery and the team being shite. We're not and Emery is the best thing to happen to the club for a long, long, time.

Too many simple things gone wrong tonight, giving the ball away when our game is based on using it well under pressure. You can't do that if simple stuff like first touches and simple passes go awry.

We haven't the squad to compete on three fronts. Not that bothered we are knocked out but bothered about the way we played. If we perform this way against Man u we will get the same outcome

I honestly think we get the first goal it's a different game but we concede, heads drop, we feel sorry for ourself again and too many players too accustomed to strolling and winning  thanks to previous hard work. We concede now , and we don’t belive we will score and we don't seem to want to do the hard yards to get back in to it.

You need to double your efforts. Stop their momentum. We don't seem to have the hunger , legs or belief.

I domt know which one it is but I'm questioning the hunger atm.
