He says in a post-game thread where we won at Stamford Bridge with a clean sheet

Yes we got the win, but we defo rode our luck a little bit defensively there. Granted we could have also scored 3/4/5 but, there was no way that was a ‘comfortable’ clean sheet… if that was Man City or Arsenal, they’d have put some of those away. But… a wins a win.

On the whole it was fairly comfortable.

Worth stating as this will be brand new to a whole generation: we are starting to deviate from the patented Villa script we all expect.

We didn't allow Chelsea to suddenly find their mojo, which is something we've been guaranteed to do for many, many seasons.

Glad we were defensively solid. We needed that away from home. A lot of home games coming up now hope we can go on a run.

We really needed that away win and clean sheet. We were rock solid last season in the run in. We still looked ropey at times, but that will go a long way in giving the players confidence.

Great result. Bizarre reffing except for the red card. A win over Chelsea is always so savory.the fact Caicedo cost more than all our transfers is even better.  The bottom three teams look so poor but I have a fantasy Chelsea get relegated straddled with all these long term deals.

We are definitely missing Tyrone Mings. Need someone to be vocal in that high back line .

It's remarkable that we're up there in the top 6 mix when we haven't really been at our best. We've been able to pull off wins when we're really yet to hit our stride, which is huge when we have ambitions of finishing in the European places again.

We will have bad losses this season (we already have). We will lose games to teams that we should be beating, as every single team in the league will (even City will likely have 1 or 2 shock defeats). But it's evident that there's something different about this Villa team under Emery.
